The Minister-designate of Gender, Children and Social Protection Otiko Afisa Djaba has been trending on social media platform Facebook following her appearance before the Appointments Committee in parliament on Monday, 30 January.
Ms Djaba stood by her words during the campaign ahead of the 2016 elections when she described the former president John Mahama as "evil," "wicked" and "an embarrassment" to the people of northern extraction although minority members on the committee tried to convince her to retract and apologise.
“I don’t owe him (Mr Mahama) or you (Alhassan Suhuyini) any apology…” she stated explaining that her comment was in relations to the corruption that engulfed the SADA programme. She insisted she would not apologies because she did not insult the president but was only criticising him.
Before a committee where ones ministerial position was at stake, many would have coiled and apologised in order to get a nod from the members of the panel, but she stood by every statement she had made in the heat of the electioneering.
Ms Djaba further insisted she did not support the Member of Parliament for Assin Central Kennedy Agyapong when he alleged that the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Charlotte Osei, had exchanged sex for her appointment. She explained she only asked Ghanaians not to condemn the lawmaker but to investigate the allegation.
Asked by the Member of Parliament for North Tongu Okudzeto Ablakwa how she would assist to make sure intemperate language is not used on radio by politicians, the NPP Women’s Organiser retorted that the media should expunge “babies with sharp teeth” from their airwaves.
She has since been trending on Facebook.

Dats all ...u have said everything
MAMA,we in NPP in the north support you day, night, rain or shine. Let the people of Ghana know we in the north did not support those evil and corrupt act. Those things indeed are not the true characters of the people from the north . more fire!
What on earth was Haruna wanted from Otiku, to withdraw and apologize to fmr prez. Mahama, l think he was only looking for avenue for those babies with sharp teeth to go to town with it, kudos madam they wont have any.Haruna should call for all the tapes of this babies and some of their elders including Prez. Mahama himself, Ama benyiwa Doe, Baba Jamel, kobby acheampong,Hannah Bisiw etc. he should check !!!!
Just so soon, we have forgotten what the babies with sharp teeth did to Nana Addo, today the table has turned against them and they are crying for people to support them, support them for what some of the people that I can easily remember for insulting and given disrespectful commands are eg. Ablakwa, Fiifi, Felix, Dr.Omani, Mutala Montie3 to mention but just a few. All these names are still fresh in our minds, so they should sit, think and come again. As for Otiko the little said about her the better, she will tell you what she has seen wrong about you and she stands by the truth nothing but the truth, so be ready for her
Yaa Asantewaa of our time
'Minority will have their say while the majority have their way', ampa. Decency, is what our mothers are endowed with. Otiko fired below the belt, simple
People have not taken note of what Ablakwa said preceding his final question that gave opportunity to the nominee to respond the way she did. ....I live her to you the kind of person..... What is the meaning this. I think this got her angry. I think they should stop asking personal questions and focus on the purpose for which the person is before them and not to try and pick-up with them on trivial issues. WHY DIDN'T THE MAJORITY THEN ASKED HER TO WITHDRAW THOSE WORDS? WHY NOW?
I remember in 1999, when she came to Ministry of Communication begging JM to be allowed to a certain children's programme on GTV. today you have a voice to insult the former President. Asiawo like you
Otiko I love your brevity. Those babies with sharp teeth thought they could intimidate you. You truly defended your convictions and if you want to apologize, do that on your own convictions. They should do competent work and stop dwelling on trivialties which some of them are even more guilty of. Bravoooooooo
i like madam. she will not follow position to sell her beliefs and drives. yes she said it and qualify the formal president in her own ways. anybody can also choose to qualify the formal president base on what one thinks.the minority has only 30% in your approval. keep it up
