President Akufo-Addo has come under severe criticisms after new appointments he made on Wednesday brought the number of ministers and deputy minsters to 110.
With this number of appointees, Akufo Addo’s government becomes the biggest ever in the Fourth Republic. The previous NPP government led by former President John Agyekum Kufuor had 88 ministers, the Mills administration that succeeded it had 69 ministerial appointees while the Mahama administration, had 78 ministerial appointments.
Speaking to the issue in an interview with the Daily Graphic and Ghana Television (GTV) in his office at the Flagstaff House, Thursday, President Akufo Addo debunked claims that his government is the biggest ever in the Fourth Republic.
According to him, the problems facing the country need bold and ambitious measures to address them.
“I don’t believe that my government in the Fourth Republic has big numbers in view of the swollen challenges. These are the background and the circumstances that were facing my government and the people of Ghana; hence they need a new paradigm shift to solve the problems. We have a problem and what is the best way? It is better to have men and women capable of serving the nation’s interests and to work to grow the economy. If I succeed, you will soon find out the brouhaha is nothing compared to the success” he stated
Akufo Addo stated that his government has inherited unprecedented challenges; a situation which is worse than any other administration.
“I don’t believe that any government in the fourth republic has inherited the challenges that my government has inherited…we are talking about a country with a 74 percent GDP-to-debt ratio, a GHc 2.4 billion debt overhang in the energy sector, persistent decline in growth rate, lowest rate of 2.6 percent growth rate in the agriculture sector over the past 20 years, widespread unemployment, the major issue of corruption and the persistent leakage of revenue in our system…
…when you put all of these circumstances together, my assessment is that we need to really put all hands on deck. We need the cooperation of my party and my country that will allow me to deal with all these issues and already the signs are that this government, in spite of these huge challenges, has begun to put some order in the circumstances of our country.”

I am the most F00OLISH person on social media. I have never said anything with human brains. I'm just an annnimmall.
this one is JOB for the boys.please nana i can be a minister for girls.
Prof Mills had 69 ministers and what was the result? JM had 84 ministers and what was the result? An economy in crisis. Kuffour had 88, and moved us from hipc to lower middle income economy. So how many minister should a Prez have? The Prez. says he needs 110 ministers, why don't we give him the benefit of the doubt. If he is able to move this country out of this mess, 110 ministers would pale into insignificance. What we need is the results. Nana we are solidly behind you and we know you would deliver to our satisfaction. Those criticizing in good faith would praise you come next year when they see the results.
The most important is good performance and result. All these will stop if we begin to see good results. So Nana make sure you use the ministers to achieve better results. If we continue to do the same thing all the time we can not get different result but the same results .
NANA DONT WASTE YOUR TIME ON THIS SLAVES SUBJECT OF YOURS. JUST DO WHATEVER PLEASES YOU BECAUSE AFTER ALL IT WAS YOUR FORTH FATHERS WHO MADE GHANA WHAT IT IS. IF THEY TALK TOO MUCH, LET THEM SLEEP BY FORCE AND SHOW THEM WHAT IS POWER. GHANA BELONGS TO YOU DO WHAT WISH.
Thats what the massive wotes for you, with massive problems or challenges, we need massive ministers. dont mind the oppressors
yes , i know you are in a hurry but to get hurry to muddy the waters. nana, you are the president at least for 4 years and have the executive powers so there is no need to be explaining in this teething time times, its better for you, vice, senior minister, chief of staff and appointees to wait, be silent and allow communicators to derve in, there you will get the mass opinons of many to settle it once and for all. even if you make a coup against your own self, i will support you and wish you dont be a comnmon president like mahama did, be the exceutive president like rawlings, kuffour. its not everything that must be exxplained and as such, ministers must be respectful in commenting on fresh issues opinions and wisdom is not in one person, once ppl talk, u listen and you may make ammendments instantly or later. after all, we have committed our entire life to you hands for 4 years and we pray and wish as we know you, you will deliver having a billion challenges doesnt mean appoint a billion supervisors or ministers. ghana problems were corruption and incompetence. nana, do you need 3 more people to help boakye agayarko, do u need paatricia ameyehuoo appiagyei for innovation, pls, come again we awaiting and the nana i know, will in due time may the reschuffle i know you are wise politician, appointing the ministers to overtake the corrupt public and civil servants so once the system is sanitized, you will reschuffle, i do agree with you but tell hamid etc to at times, be quite and just say we will expalin in due cause. soldiers never rush or be in hurry at war, the may delay but the best soldier or batalion is to have a strategy to win always still, kennedy kankam, kofi jumah, ayisi boateng, dr amoako tuffuor are all in line, think of them also take owuso aduomi from transport as well francisca oteng, they are waste pls, its not an insult but let francisca graduate and let aduomi also learn lesson that, he cant be on the side of ndc and when we are in power, come to us too as well, let him know thata you are no a political surveyor as he made ndc to call you nana so
I think I missed the public debate and discussion on the million and one presidential staffers of the previous regime. I think I was out of town. The end justifies the means. I am looking for results. One think I am sure of is that the MPs are not going to collect double pay. Some ministers have declined to live in govt bungalows and use V8 vehicles. I hope that will be the trend and not the exception. Go ahead, Mr President!! Results please.
HOW MANY MPS ARE THERE IN PARLIAMENT IN 1992,1996,2000,2004,2008,2012,2016
Massa ;Believe me !!!!!!! Nana Addo is going to disappoint everybody because Nana Addo is not up to the job ; when do you have to appoint so many people when you the same person claim the NDC government left you with a MESS !!!!!this elephant bloated government is complete FRAUD!!!!!! by Nana Addo; the man is not interested in saving Ghana from its woes but rather fulling Ghanaians with his aristocratic english tones to full Ghanaians again because to me all politicians are all the same - stillers and bandits; they are out to lutt the state ; go to kyebi his home tiown today the place is in mess with 'galasey; with Abuakwa state king Nana Amotia running rampage and allocating lands to these chinesse to pollute our lands and Nana Adddo sits down and does nothing but rather appoints 110 ministers to do what ? What controls have Nana Addo got on Chairman Wotumin in polluting the rivers besides Nana Addo gave Ghanaians this impression that he was not corrupt but this is corruption and fraudulent in the appointment of some these irrelevant people besides for those of us who thought Nana will not be corrupt ; the truth is comming out NEVER TRUST NANA ADDO HE IS POLITICAL KROOK !!!!! ; for me Addo cannot do the job and is incapable of controlling this massive appointment from the centre besides as usual Nana Addo the womaniser is and very weak leader seeking to please people in the NPP ; he wants to please his own frineds and family members .
