President Nana Akufo-Addo missed a fine opportunity to send a strong signal to his appointees on his “robustness”, when he failed to take the first step in getting the deputy minister for agriculture out of office, A.B.A. Fuseini assessed.
Mr. William Quaitoo whom until Tuesday evening was the deputy minister for agriculture resigned following incessant pressure on him to do so. He was accused of insulting people from the north when he called them “difficult people”.
He was responding to farmers’ agitations on the level of destruction caused by the fall armyworms on their farms. He had retracted and apologised for his explosive and ethnocentric comments, but failed to impress his accusers who insisted on his resignation. The presidency confirmed his resignation and announced it was accepted by President Akufo-Addo on Tuesday.
But the Member of Parliament for Sagnarigu, in the Northern Region, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini believes the minister should have been fired instead of resigning. Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini had wanted the minister fired by the president.
The MP was however part of the Minority in Parliament who gave him the first option to resign. Though some persons in government condemned Mr. Quaitoo, there was no official government statement on his unguarded utterance.
Alhaji Fuseini discredited the presidency on that score and told TV3 Tuesday that the gravity of the offence should have attracted a government statement at least. Though he welcomed the deputy minister’s resignation, he said being sacked by the president would have “served a better purpose”.
The president should have “fired him to send a strong signal that public office is not for people to come and showcase their anger” on people. The MP explained that the president should have issued “a very strong statement, to come out and state that [the president] will not take this kind of arrogance from his ministers, appointees”. He commended a presidential staffer Clara Napaga Tia Sulemana who condemned Mr. Quaitoo, asserting that the issue transcends beyond politics. Mr. William Quaitoo is the Member of Parliament of Akim Oda constituency in the Eastern Region.

hahahahaha ntafo) y3 hunu amane ooo...infact pple like Fuseini are the reason other tribe call us difficult, what's ur problem here Mr Fuseini. Is it english u dnt understand or it's jst ns3mfoo na 3y3 wo d3. The Minister jst did an honorable thing by resigning to show how remorseful he is abt the comment he made abt his own pple so wat has de President miss here, gyimiiiiii!!!
The man erred .He apologised and now he has resigned. So what does this imp who looks like a 'medicine man' want now?In this country all tribes have been called names, most of which are derogatory but nobody goes to war over it. Do Northerners have an inferiority complex" I'm sure if a Ga man is referred to as being difficult he wont be pissed off. These people had their kinsman create a n Authority put funds into an account to be used to develop the place and what happened .About 4 of their own kind sat around a table and shared the loot. They then came up with some cock 'n' bull story about guinea fowls flying to Burkina Faso.people if the ones who were supposed to run SADA were Ashantis or Akwapims what would have happened?Difficult people?
The issue at stake is that the ex-deputy Minister erred and he is suffering the consequnece of his own deeds or actions. For those of you procaliming so called Akan supurioty or whatever you want to call it,I just pity you for your crass ignornace and ***barred word***.By your outburst, I can say without any doubt that you are not Akans but should the unfortunate happens,ie if youa are Akans, I will not doubt your 'supurioty'. Yes you are 'superior' as everybody can see. You are superior in terms of the level of mental development, becuase you can not think. Your reasoning faculties are the lowest of the low. You are pathetic and your parents wasted their money in schooling you without giving education,...so sad. You are lowest of the low.
The Minister is correct in his statement? you Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini wants him to resign and he has resigned. Now you are saying he should have been sacked instead of resigning. From this, the Minister saying you Northerners are difficult people, isn't he speaking the TRUTH? So from your actions, EVERY GHANAIAN HAS SEEN THAT YOU AND FOR THAT MATTER NORTHERNERS ARE difficult people.
Honestly, mpepefo or better still ntafo are simply difficult! Aaabah! Well, one can't blame them. ABA fuseini and the likes of him are now getting enlightened and they just can't handle it.
For someone who has been in government before, I'm at surprised at Fuseini's omments here. I'm positive Quaitoo was asked to resign or be fired. And he chose the honourable option. I would have done same. This will save both him and the prez from unnecessary tension. The signal Fuseini wanted sent, has been sent. All of nana addo's appointees will hear the message, if you follow around you will beasked to resign. This is good governance, no need to ruffle anymore feathers. Don't forget he is a sitting MP, and NPP still need the votes of his constituets. Fuseini, stop being difficult to deal with. Jeeezzzz
This is the very DIFFICULT nature of most of the people from the NORTH. The minister erred and apologized and later has resigned from post. Then you come to say the president should have fired him....are you not potraying the DIFFICULT nature in you as the minister said? I don't understgand this man. Indeed A.B.A Fuseini, you are really a difficult person. The truth hurts!
North is under-developed because they are difficult. Am i lying?????
you can insult akan people but you dare not insult northerners
The manner in which the northerners are reacting shows that they feel that what the man said has some truth in it. If a notherner says something negative against akans, the latter will not be negatively bothered because he/she can turn the negative to positive. but northerners are all going crazy.
