A Communications Team Member of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has described the payment of $2 million for the newly launched Digital Property Address System as a “ripoff and fraudulent”.
To him, the smart phone application which is claimed by the developer as exclusive to Ghana and aimed at helping to revamp the ailing fortunes of Ghana Post is a ploy to line the pockets of “people who just want to make money because their party is in power”.
“...there are very serious issues with this application because this developer did not create it exclusively for Ghana. This APP has is already in existence and it’s called ‘asaasegps’ and the only changes he made to it are colors to that of the NPP”.
“And this is what we spent 150 billion old cedis on. Also, the APP is renamed ‘GhanaPostGPS’ and there is the claim that it is exclusive to Ghana but that is not true. I have friends in Nigeria and China using the APP and the evidence isn’t here,” Sammy Gyamfi said in UTV’s Saturday edition of "Adekye Nsroma".
Mr. Gyamfi who is also a student Lawyer could not understand how a government led by “the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the the bunch of self acclaimed knowledgeable men be outwitted into buying such a fraudulent application”.
These observations come two days after the launch the National Digital Property Addressing System by the President at the Conference Centre in Accra.
President Akufo-Addo was full of admiration for the project and stated: “It has been a barrier to job creation. It is for this reason that we have, over the last 9 months, the period of my stay in office, taken bold steps to formalise the economy and the way we conduct our everyday activities, including the way government delivers services to citizens most in need”.
However, Sammy Gyamfi is of the conviction that the recycling of ‘asaasegps’ into ‘GhanaPostGPS’ smacks of fraud and further warned the developers of the application not to accept payment for the work since it would come with consequences.

That NDC guy lacks knowledge of software. Applications are always similar and there's no software without bugs.
Another ***barred word***..if you don't put down the frame work, you can't work on it. This is just the beginning so you should ***barred word*** and watch..
Ndc will have bought this for 20 million dollars.
The NDC is trapped in a quagmire of bitterness, jealously, hared and "skin pain" after their embarrassing and humiliating defeat. They therefore rush to discredit everything that gets executed by government. Pathetic bunch of 1diots!
Ok Guys, Maybe he is not articulating his point properly I will try and explain to you. 1. If the purpose of this system is to uniquely identify and verify address then the system did not meet that requirement. How do you verify an address when you dont have a master database to verify it against? which means every district should physically(digitally) map their area and assign those numbers to the said property. This database is then shared among certain institutions for verification purposes ie police, banks etc. Apart from using the generated code on Ghanapostgps to find your route, it cannot be use as viable address system since anyone can stand any where and generate it and without proper master database verifier, its ***barred word***. Again the system runs on google map with its gps coordinates known already, so what did this guys really do to warrant a cost $2m. Besides this system shouldn't have been for public use except if you want to route. And government of Ghana had no business paying such huge money. There is no gps coordinates restriction so you generate digital address and get a postcode from any where in the world (because it runs on google map). I will not even pay $20,000 for this service. It might be good for carriers but not for primary purpose. In a nutshell, not a smart tech and lazy thinking.
Software applications are mostly similar in what it's mwant to achieve. . Or this boy is suggesting the developer has stolen someone's copyright? And for problems in the software, even windows has a lot of problems .. and that's why we have patches and updates..ndc should find something better doing and stop this childish talk..
Hmmm aahhbaa Ah soo blinded by ignorance just because you are affiliated to a political party. And what the hell is a student lawyer?? , another term for law student or a lawyer for only students.
IT IS SAD THAT A YOUNG MAN LIKE THIS CAN SELL HIS SOUL TO FALSEHOOD IN THE NAME POLITICS AND WORSE OF ALL TO A DEMON INFESTED PARTY LIKE NDC. IS HE SURE HE IS A "STUDENT LAWYER"? HE SHOULD TELL US WHICH LAW SCHOOL HE ATTENDS.
THEY WAY THE NDC IS GOING, THEY WILL SOON CLAIM TAHT THE NDC CREATED OUR FATHER GOD ALMIGHTY. THE NDC LIES AND FALSE CLAIMS IS FROM THE DEVI.L THE FATHER OF LIE.S AND NOWHERE ELSE; STRAIGHT OUTTA SATAN.
The corrupt and incompetent NDC is so jealous of NPP's achievement within just 10 months. They don't understand why after messing up the economy and ***barred word*** the state coffers, this gov't within a flash of time has still been able to achieve a lot. With the vision and the kind of leadership Nana Addo is providing,NDC is dead. They're building a modern Ghana in which NDC's vile propaganda, lies and tribalism are dead.
