Minister of Information, Mustapha Hamid says President Nana Akufo-Addo will not legalize homosexuality under his tenure as Head of State.
According to him, the discourse about homosexuality is not on the agenda of the government and so asked Ghanaians not to be worried about the President's stance on the issue.
President Akufo-Addo in an interview with host Jane Dutton on Al Jazeera's "Talk To Al Jazeera" on Sunday implied that homosexuality is still illegal in Ghana because there are not enough activists pushing for its legalization.
According to him, there can only be a strong coalition to reform the nation's cultural setting and laws in support of homosexuality.
The President however gave the impression that a strong coalition may emerge in the future to eventually push for a change in the law.
He has since come under a barrage of criticisms for his comments.
Whiles some critics are calling on him to make his stance clear, others insist the President should emphatically declare he and his government will not support homosexuality.
But speaking in an interview with host Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo" on Monday, the Information Minister noted that the President's response on Al Jazeera was apt.
To him, he was reflecting the laws of the country and cannot impose his personal views on the Ghanaian populace.
On the issue of whether pressure from lobbyists could result in a change of law on homosexuality in Ghana, Hon. Hamid said it could possibly happen in "100 years" to come.
However, he said, "there is no way it will be legalized now or in the eight (8) year rule of President Akufo-Addo."

I love Ebony's style. Who are you to judge. Only God. I don't have a problem with gays and lesbians. They need to be talked to not forced out. Most people blab about white man this white man that. Don't you know they're advanced in everything. You're the one who need their help, Ghana. If you don't accept gays and lesbians, they laugh and just give you time. At the right time, when they really want you to legalize it, it'll come with heavy sanctions. They'll tell us they don't need our cocoa. They also do not want any of our exports. No more loans. No more aid of any kind. No more internet. This is but a few of what will be done to push you to legalize gayism and lesbianism. It will be done, and it'll come to pass no matter who is in power.
but was quick to add that if public opinion changes, the law may just be ammended. Mr Mininster, what does it mean ????????????????
Lagalisation of gayism will happen in ghana only after the rapture - so agyimifo will do what they like for destruction. Any onipa who has comfort at the back of a man is not a normal human being. The front of a woman has been crated purposely for the rod of sons of Adam. Why opt for the dirty place? You are ongyimifo if you do that and a dog is better than you. As a matter of fact you should be stoned to death immediately.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS. WHAT IS THE FULL MEANING OF THE FOLLOWING QUESTION TO ACRONYM GP. (A) GP =GHANA POLICE (B) GP= GAY PROMOTER (C) GP= GAY PRESIDENT
Since we now know your hidden agenda, we shall not even give you another 4 years to visit this mayhem on Ghana. You have the guts to even tell when this dastardly will be entrenched in Ghana. But I don't blame you. All the people who some us thought we neutral and genuine in their contributions to social discourse have turned to be praise singers for this government. This has left me to wonder if their previous hard hitting comments were for the national good or was done to promote a certain cause. We live to see and surely, time will tell.
AH, DID YOU HEAR HIM SPEAK OR ARE YOU TRYING TO RATIONALIZE THE THOUGHTS HE EXPRESSED IN CLEAR ENGLISH LANGUAGE??
