Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has described Special Prosecutor Nominee, Martin Amidu as a person with an exaggerated sense of self-worth.
According to him, the former deputy Attorney General comes across as an egoistic person, adding that such posturing is not good for a person going to occupy an office as a Special Prosecutor.
Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa was commenting on the nine(9) hour vetting of Mr Amidu by the Appointment’s Committee of Parliament on Tuesday where the latter was subjected to a grueling question and answer session.
The MP who’s a member of the Appointment Committee quoting from page 465 of a book authored by former Attorney General, Obed Asamoah under who Mr Amidu worked titled “Political History of Ghana 1950-2013, the Experience of a Non-Conformist”, asked the latter what he made of a damning verdict passed on him by his former boss when his choice as a running mate to candidate Mills was described as “unproductive move” and a candidate who will not be beneficial to the ticket.
In response, Mr Amidu known for being blunt said “Mr Chairman in the first place Dr Asamoah is not my boss, he did not pay my bills through the law school. He was called to the Bar, I was called to the Bar. He didn’t appoint me Deputy Attorney General, I was appointed Deputy Attorney General before he came there and I served under Aikins, Nana Tandoh, Mr Forson came for six months before he was asked to act, and we are colleagues. Except that he was Attorney General and I was the deputy and therefore I knew my place and worked with him, that doesn’t make him my boss. You’re reading a self serving book, in which he wanted to be the Vice Presidential candidate, he was by-passed, the Presidential candidate saw his deputy more competent and excellent than him.”
But speakingon Kasapa FM Wednesday, condemned the ‘super man’ mindset of Mr Amidu.
“The way he was speaking and said Dr Obed Asamoah was not his boss because he didn’t pay his school fees, that attitude is not the best. If you look at the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, he’s going to be working under a Board, he’ll also be accountable to the Attorney General. So if you have this mindset that your are a super man, there’s nobody who’s your boss probably except ex President Rawlings. The energies of the Special Prosecutor, his deputy and staff must be channeled towards preventing and fighting corruption, there should be no energies left for matters dealing with egos and peoples special preferences, we don’t need that.”

The Baby with Sharp Teeth is at it again. Whatever it is Oku the Djato can never equal Martin Amidu. If there is anyone to comment on his posture, it should not be Ablakwah. I expected Obed to make such comments and not someone who was born long after Martin had completed Law School. Oku the Djato, get ready for your turn to face the Anti-Corruption Crusader. Nsawam will be your lot. Amen.
A person with a mind of his own is not the same as a person full of himself: the two don't mean the same thing and ablakwa failed to get that. Indeed,we all know the ambitions of Dr obed asamoah at the time .He had not only running mate ambitions but even presidential ambitions himself and when he was passed over what did he do? He broke away to form his own party and we all know the end result there off. So he wrote a book that was appropriately described by Martin amidu: self-serving. He tried to bad-mouth Martin amidu to strengthen his own claim to the position which terribly backfired. If that is not self-serving l don't know what else is. In terms of contributions to the national cause dr obed asamoah comes no where close to Martin amidu and no wonder dr obed asamoah has disappeared into oblivion from the national limelight whilst the stock of Martin amidu keeps going higher and higher. He is even admired by his political opponents.
Okudzeto give us a break and stop your diabolical interpretation of your own mindset, yielding to propaganda. Wait and see if he is boss to only Rawlings and by the way why are you so much afraid of Rawlings....
