Former President Jerry John Rawlings says Ghanaians are going through very hard times.
According to Mr. Rawlings, the situation is profound hence there is the need for all to extend a helping hand to those who are in need.
“We all know how hard things are in Ghana right now,” he admits. “Times are really hard and during critical moments such as this funeral, the expenses family incurs is a not a joke.
“Things are not going too well for a lot of people. So I am pleading with all of you, the way things are, we have no choice but to help one another.”
Rawlings who had joined other personalities for the funeral of Nana Ama Obu Derby-Michaelis, mother of Vice President of the Ship Owners and Agents Association of Ghana (SOAAG), Adam Imoru Ayarna further indicated that things are tough not only for the ordinary Ghanaian but also the rich and famous as he is unable to offer a resounding support to the bereaved.
“It’s not easy for me. I wish I could support,” he noted.
We’re not in crisis; but Ghanaians are in difficulty – Akufo-Addo
In September last year, President Akufo-Addo admitted that the average Ghanaian was in difficulty but rejected claims the country was at a crisis point.
The President while delivering a speech at a Ghanaian community in New York, USA attributed the “difficulties” in the system to the “dramatic increase in crude oil prices” and the strengthening of the US dollar.
He said: “It is not a crisis, but the difficulties that we are going through now are difficulties that the system will be able to accommodate. It has meant some difficulties in the lives of ordinary people in Ghana, but they are events that were out of our control, which we have to find a way to accommodate.
“We have to approach the foreign exchange matter medium to long-term, by expanding our supply base, that’s not a crisis…they’re difficulties the system would be able to accommodate…”

IT IS COMMON TO APPLAUD GOVERNMENT BY SOME FEW PHYSICAL STRUCTURES THAT POLITICIAN DO IN ELECTION YEAR TO DECEIVE ELECTORATES. HOWEVER, THE SOCIETY IS VERY MUCH TRANSFORM FOR A LONG TERM BY THE RIGHT POLICY THAT A GOVERNMENT SET IN PLACE. THE EFFORT TO MAKE MDCCES ELECTED WOULD BE ONE OF THE GREATEST LEGACY, TOGETHER WITH FREE SHS, STOPPING GALAMSEY, NEW REGIONS WITH MODERN CAPITALS, THAT NANA ADDO WOULD LEAVE BEHIND. IS NANA IS DOING SOMETHING REMAKABLE EVERY YEAR. 1ST YEAR FREE SHS, 2ND YEAR REFERENDUM FOR 6 NEW REGIONS, AND HOPEFULLY IN THE THIRD YEAR REFERENDUM TO ELECT MMDCE. THIS INITIATIVES TOGETHER WITH FINANCIAL AND PUBLIC SECTOR REFORMS ARE GREAT ACHIEVEMENTS FOR NANA ADDO NPP GOVERNMENT THAT HAVE LONG TERM BENEFITS FOR GHANA. AND ALL THIS, OF COURSE, ARE BEING DONE ALONGSIDE WITH ENORMOUS INFRASTRUCTURE, STARTED RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING OF THIS ADMINISTRATION. IT IS ONLY HEARTLESS SELFISH PEOPLE, WHO WOULD CRY GHANA IS HARD SINCE THEY THINK NOTHING GOOD FOR THE NATION. THE AMOUNT OF MONEY CLAIM TO HAVE BEEN GAMBLED WITH MENZGOLD SHOW AN EXCESS OF MONEY THAT GHANAIANS WOULD LIKE TO KEEP FOR THEMSELVES AND STILL CRY GHANA IS HARD.IT IS TIME FOR GHANAIANS TO BEGIN TO PAY BACK TO GOVERNMENT WHAT WE HAVE ACCUMULATE THE SOCIAL INTERVENTION AND SUPPORT THE INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT OF GOOD ROADS, GOOD SCHOOLS AND HOSPITAL AND GOOD SECURITY FOR THE GOOD AND PEACE OF ALL.
IS IT JJ RAWLINGS TALKING, ie WONDERS WILL NEVER END. IN YOUR OWN GOVERNANCE IN THE 80'S AND THE 90'S GHANAIANS EAT YELLOW CORN AND FLOWER CASSAVA AS THEIR MAIN COURSE MEALS, THEY USED SOME FOR PORRIDGE AND GARI TO EAT BECAUSE OF HUNGER. WHAT IS THIS MAN TALKING ABOUT, YOU JJ CAUSE GHANAIANS DOWN FALL. YOU BROUGHT ALL THESE WICKED NDC'S WE SEE NOW TO COME AND COLLAPSE GHANA. PLEASE KEEP QUITE MR RAWLINGS, DID YOU REMEMBER RAWLINGS CHAIN IN GHANAIANS NECK BECAUSE OF HUNGER. PLEASE DON'T BRING YOU SELF

I summon you before satan for insulting me for my harmless assessment of your president and his best friend.
now to those who saying thing things are hard read 2 timothy chap three it is going to be harder
@ Ama.Who told you that Rawlings is Nana's Addo's friend? don't get on this platform and spew gibberish simply because you can type. Were we living in paradise when the most corrupt and inept leader this country has ever had was running things"?After all the president himself has said times are rough.Because your brain is lobotomised you cannot see that at least right now some rivers have started looking like what rivers should look like, many kids who otherwise would be roaming the streets are going to school, monumental debts left by this kleptomaniac of a leader we had have been cleared.Road contractors Get Fund contractors,NHIS debts,.The railway system is now starting to take shape after many years of neglect. In short there are many good news stories .Many roads that were done only in the Mahama green book are now being fixed. My point is if thinking is too difficult an exercise for you forget it ad leave it for those equipped to do it.
It's good that you have seen it Mr. Rawlings. By the way how about your wife? Is she feeling the heat? Let her come out Sir! You think you are destroying NDC.
Hei JJ, many good people of Ghana have come out to condemn Ken for sometimes his unmatured and defamatory comments but you Rawlings of all Ghanaians has no moral justification to condemn him, let alone to say anything to suggest that Ken was implicative of the murderous act against the undercover journalist. Then, there is no Ghanaian who had been, indeed, less murderous than you, Rawlings. You and your cohorts brutally ordered and supervised the killing of my dear cousin General A. A. Afrifa, and among many others. You couldn't have just killed him (Afrifa) for the Coup d'etat he took part. Then, Kotoka was the head of that military coup and Kotoka was honored for his role, by naming him to date after the Ghana International Airport. This hypocrisy Of JJ always reminds me of the murder of Afrifa and that makes me very furious. And I bet, I wouldn't hesitate to revenge if I had the chance to do so. So I am not better than Ken neither is Rawling better than any murder. After all, the living standard of your time was worst than today and the numerous needless killing was clearly not justified. Rawlings is for this matter for me, indeed, ''a walking illegality'' Asem S€ B€!
We were not living in heaven when you were in power for 19 years..... Your bad policies for the 19 years is what is bearing the fruit today.... It you were to put in place proper and visionary investments then things will be better today. shuttt the ***barred word*** uppp and enjoy your Abacha bribe.....
