President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been accused by the General Secretary of the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, of dragging his feet in ensuring that the roadmap towards disbanding vigilantism.
The NDC General Secretary expressed surprised at President Akufo-Addo’s adamant stance against tackling political vigilantism which mar peaceful elections in the country.
Speaking on Okay FM’s Ade Akye Abia Morning Show, General Mosquito as the NDC General Secretary is affectionately called, said, "we were expecting the President to thank us for the proposition we have brought on board, but he being the President who claims to be committed in ensuring the disbandment of the vigilante groups, is being difficult and dragging his feet in bringing finality to the problem. You don’t know the reason why he will write a letter back to us insisting the two parties sit down on the matter and not include other stakeholders."
The NDC Chief Scribe further bemoaned the decision by the President to kick against the NDC's call for the inclusion of stakeholders like the clergy, Paramount Chiefs, Peace Council and Security Expert from Kofi Anan Peacekeeping Training Centre.
“The suggestion we made to include all these people, what is the problem with the President involving others from Peace Council and Kofi Anan Peacekeeping Training Centre in the course of disbanding vigilantism? What does the President finds it a challenge in the suggestion made by us? Or the inclusion of the clergymen and the chiefs, what problem will there be for the President?” he quizzed.
To him, the posture of the president regarding the inclusion of these stakeholders in the discussion on vigilantism is indicative that “anybody who does not want these people who can help promote peace in election to be part of the roadmap to disbanding vigilantism is rather the stumbling block”.
“The President is acting as the stumbling block to disbanding vigilantism and installing peace”, he accused.

Gen. Mosquito, why cant you initiate the meeting with your counterparts so that you can all agree on the baseline requests for who to mediate or who to be present before submission to the President. In that case it wont be that NPP will also come up with their demands. It is very important you guys sit up to disband these notorious organizations you have created without consultations with the AU and ECOWAS who you want to sit in as part of the negotiation. Any arbiter in this circumstance should be agreed by both parties. You guys are acting as if you are children. Today these illiterates and criminals are killing themselves. One day, they will join hands and present themselves as a formidable force to cause a serious problem in the country. You may think that your family is not in Ghana so you don't care. Covert activities by Ghanaians will make you guys laugh at the wrong side of your mouth. Forewarn is foreseen. Let the country be in flames because of your selfish interest to rule the nation by all means.
ITS IMPOSSIBLE FOR ONLY NDC AND NPP TO SIT SOMEWHERE AND DISSOLVE THOSE GROUPS THEY FORMED WITHOUT ANY THIRD PARTY. SO MR PRESIDENT IF IS TRUE U DON'T NEED ANY THIRD PARTY IN THIS CASE THEN U ARE A BIG JOKE.
did u invite all these ple when you were forming these groups? the problem with politicians is that they don't even trust themselves even when they belong to the same party. so all this should tell you why this country is in its current.
let's include Seikwa chief rather. Aboabeast
When the group is too large the discussions will not end. Everybody will want to talk and the media will run in circles with every details of the meeting as if we are in a banana republic. That is why nana akufu addo wants to maintain a small group. The NDC needs wisdom to understand this simple logic. Very soon they will ask the president to include mortuary men and coffin makers association in the meeting because they are all stakeholders of vigilantism when people die.
U people behave as if politics is everything in this country ahba. Give us a break. If u won't meet to disband keep them. They have started killing ur people wait till it gets to ur turn.
And what problem(s) would there be if they are not included? These people they speak before reasoning.
I WOULD NOT HAVE AGREED WITH YOU MORE. I DON'T REALLY SEE THE SENSE IN WHAT THE NDC IS TRYING TO SAY. NPP AND NDC ARE ASKED TO MEET. IF THEY BEGIN TO MEET AND THEY SEE THE NEED FOR ANYBODY OR INSTITUTION TO BE INCLUDED IN THEIR DISCUSSION, THEY CAN ADD UP WITHOUT SEEKING PERMISSION FROM ANYBODY. IT IS NOT A MATTER OF BEING IN A WATERTIGHT CONDITION. THE NDC ARE NOT SHARP THINKERS, I AM SORRY TO OBERVE. ASIEDU NKETSIA AND HIS COHORTS SHOULD SIT UP. WE ARE TIRED OF THEM!!!!!
Ghana water company limited, when are you connecting water to homes of residents around Adenta???? we are also Ghanaians....
stop playing politics with this meeting, the two parties should meet first and if the want to invite anybody they can invite
