Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETfund) has exposed the fact that it paid GHC350,000 to the Auditor-General Service to conduct the recent infamous auditing, but the service failed to go through the proper legal procedure in submitting the audit report.
This comment follows controversies that emerged after the Auditor General published names of Members of Parliament, politicians and others who had allegedly benefitted from the GETfund educational scholarship.
Normally per their mandate, the Service was to send the audited report to parliament and then to the Public Accounts Committee where GETFund will be summoned to answer to some questions.
However, the Administrator of GETFund, Richard Boadu in an exclusive interview with Kwami Sefa Kayi on Peace FM's morning show ‘Kokrokoo’, said "this was not done".
Ordinarily, he said, he does not speak to issues on-air, but was forced to go public after the A-G and his assigns hopped from one radio station to the other justifying the "incomplete" report.
“What I don’t understand is why they didn’t give us the final copy when we requested for the auditing? We saw it in the newspapers. It should have gone to Parliament and then to the Public Accounts Committee and then we will be called to respond but not on a radio station. But I realized he is going around talking about the issue and so I decided to speak out because we have nothing to hide,” he stated.
Mr Boadu further revealed that contrary to claims by the Auditor-General that the service undertook the audit in line with its mandate, as captioned in its transmittal letter to Parliament which partly reads: "I have the honour to submit to you a performance audit report on the administration of Scholarships by GETFund Secretariat in accordance with my mandate under Article 187(2) of the 1992 Constitution of Ghana, Sections 13(e) and 16 of the Audit Service Act, 2000 (Act 584) which provide that I may carry out performance and special audits," it was his outfit (GETFund) that "requested" and paid for that particular audit, and brandished correspondence to buttress the claim.
"We requested for the audit. I have a proof of giving them GHC350,000 to do the auditing because they claim they don’t have money. They then brought a draft and asked that we add 2017 and 2018 to avoid the accusation of witch-hunting previous administration…even looking at the report, we realized it fell short. It seems he intentionally captioned it; members of parliament, politicians media practitioners and so on awarded scholarship. According to him, they are not needy; hence should not be given the scholarship,” the GETFund Administrator added.

Funny that the people who are saying that the Auditor General should be allowed to do his work are the same people who do not want to allow the EC chair to do her work.
Not Knowing that Ministers and MP's are all julor kwakwe
I think the AG seeks to cause sensationalism rather than appreciating the credibility and responsibility that come with his work. Behind his deportment, is an ostensible purpose of vigilantism against corruption but his real goal is to produce ammunition for his party NDC to fire his opponent NPP. He should give us a break and tell it to the marines but not to the good people of Ghana. Then, his shoddy work is not conversant with his deportment. The response he gave with regards to the query from the Depute Agric Minister, and the AG referring him to Getfund for redress was unprofessional as well as irresponsible. You can look at his work from any angle the motive is the same mischief.
you rot and ***barred word*** deee are being exposed and you are here talking about AG' credibility. if for nothing at all he has exposed you politicians as greedy ldiiots
Who told you the auditor general is a saint? Pls. find out from him you love Ghana as he claimed. Why will he purchased fleet of vehicle for his department and resolved to register three (3) of the vehicles in individual name .How is it possible to that ? is he planning to steal ?How can we trust him as a saint as he wants Ghanaian s to believe. How can corporate procurement of item goes to an individual name? Is AG competent or projecting his political colors
Trust me . the current auditor-General is either incompetent or just doing politics with his unique office. The fact that an organization has requested for your services means that any findings should be sent to them for their further decision-making process. It does not lies the powers of Auditor-general to publish such findings without their consent.Meanwhile is paid-up services so the auditor general has no exclusive right on the report. Ghanaian's should understand that ,the auditor-general is doing active politics with his office.\ The auditor-general is a criminal in disguise so fellow Ghanaian s stop hailing the ***barred word*** in a high esteem.
THE AUDITOR GENERAL MUST BE ALLOWED TO DO HIS WORK. GIVING GHS350,000.00 TO THE AUDITOR GENERAL TO DO HIS WORK FOR MOTHER GHANA IS NO BIG DEAL TO BE TALKING ABOUT WHEN OTHERS ARE GIVING AWAY MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS AS TAX EXEMTION OR RELIEF BECAUSE THEY KNOW VERY WELL THAT SUCH MONIES MAY EVENTUALLY END UP IN THE POCKETS OF THESE SAME POLITICIANS WHO APPROVE OF SUCH TAX EXEMPTIONS OR RELIEF TO THE DETRIMENT OF THE COMMON GHANAIAN . THE AUDITOR GENERAL IS MORE COMPETENT AND HONEST THAN MOST OF YOU GUYS ATTACKING HIM. WE GHANAIANS WILL SUPPORT THE AUDITOR GENERAL TO UNEARTH THE ROT IN GHANA.
