Members of Parliament (MPs) from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) have sworn to 'deal' with the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC) Madam Jean Mensa for the act of gross disrespect shown towards them.
The Interior Ministry and the Ghana Police Service will also not be spared.
Leading this call is the Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram constituency, Hon Sam Nartey George.
"...the disrespect she has shown to us; we will deal with her in same manner when the next parliament starts because the next parliament we form the majority...the same applies to the Ministry of Interior and the Ghana Police Service...the police put their hands on Members of Parliament; it's unheard-of," he fumed.
This comes after the NDC MPs were prevented by police officers when they embarked on a march to present a petition on the 2020 Techiman South parliamentary poll to the EC boss.
They ended up reading their petition to the media since there was no EC official to receive it.
No prior notice
The Commission had explained that its failure to receive the petition was because the MPs failed to serve the EC prior notice.
However, Sam George who was speaking in an interview on Neat FM's Me Man Nti programme said the Minority didn't need the Commission's permission before submitting a petition.
"...we were going to give a petition to them and we didn't need their permission...that Jean Mensa is now a demigod...? If some see her as a demigod, we won't accept it. She is just a public servant paid with our taxes..."

The worst that can happen to any country is when people who make laws become lawless. Then the law enforcers must act to bring sanity.
The NDC is a curse in the Ghanaian democratic dispensation. When never I hear Sam George speak, the immediate question which comes to mind is, how can such a guy be a member of Parliament. Indeed, it is not only by Sam that I have such a doubt about his ability and intellect for the task as MP. Certainly, it cuts across the wehole of the NDC leadership and fraternity. Then, I just cann't fathom what goes through any sane mind deciding to vote for Sam George of the NDC. Untill the NDC as a political party collapses, Ghana democracy would continue to craw in terms of its of age and informed development. The NDC is a negative energy factor after the faction back and forth thereby diminishing our progress.
It is very unfortunate that we have this kind of person in parliament. Tomorrow the table can turn and your government will use the police and the security agencies you are threatening today to do your bidding. Why can't we speak with decorum than issuing empty threats to them. Does he think that there aren’t people who do not support any of these parties in the security service? These kinds of words from his likes are what will let your party be in opposition For Christ's sake respect the security services and stop issuing unnecessary threats
This NDC guys seem too uneducated and it's sad for politicians who aim to lead the nation, I don't see any future for Ghana. Is this guy saying Ghana will become the property of the NDC some day and then do anything they want deal with people they consider enemies? It's sad.
I would say the hands of the NDC has indeed grown really long if they could deal with the police, interior ministry and the EC - literary the whole security apparatus keeping in mind they wanted to deal with the military as well.
I'm not surprised about this Sam George. He continues to talk in a gross disrespect and arrogant manner. He is an MP with no respect to the laws he claimed to be enacted in Parliament. Who said MPs are bigger than the laws of the land? I suggest to Sam George and his likeness to from tomorrow walk to places like the supreme court, Jubilee House, police headquarters, military armoury/barracks, etc to present petition without prior notice. How many times had he accused some members of his constituency who visited his office in accra without him been aware did he wholeheartedly received? Let honorable men speak honorably. Likewise law makers respect the laws. Those who demand respect must accord others same. WHO'S DISTURBING THE NATION,
My brothers and sisters we should apply some breaks here. We need peace. Lessons from covid 19 should teach us that we live by grace. The way God turns the table for his children is amazing so let us approach our issues with patience, humility and the fear of God. God lifts the humble and resists the proud so we should carefully approach issues. We should remember we came into this world with nothing and we would go with nothing. We must all think about the children in Ghana.
The voice of an infant who mistakenly find himself in parliament. If people who talk like this are leading the country then where are we heading?
Sammy Georeally acts like a ***barred word*** id1ot. Do you think Ghanaians will sit unconcerned for somebody like you to do what you want. We will deal with you before you do your evil act.
Who is going to allow people like you to come to power? Your ***barred word*** people will vote for you. But people who are open minded are in the majority so don't dream of coming to power anytime soon.
