The New Patriotic Party’s General Secretary, Justin Koduah Frimpong says the party will soon conclude a discussion that will prevent party members who occupy government positions from contesting in the party’s parliamentary primaries.
He told NEAT FM’s morning show, 'Ghana Montie' that District Chief Executives (DCEs), Director-Generals and state Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) will not be able to contest to become MPs.
Justin Koduah Frimpong said the decision which is yet to be affirmed by his party’s highest decision makers, National Executive Council (NEC) is likely to take effect after their impending primaries.
“This upcoming primaries they can contest but the subsequent ones I am not sure,” he noted.
He further explained that, "those that fall into the categories must focus on projecting government and their Members of Parliament and not to make their MPs unpopular because they want to unseat them”.
