Executive Director, Rights of Youth & Disability International, James Kwabena Bomfeh, says former President John Dramani Mahama should stop downplaying the intelligence of Ghanaians.

He wants the former President to note that Ghanaians are very much awake and can recollect his track record.

"He should respect the intelligence of Ghanaians. He once said we have a short memory but not all of us have that deficiency, and I tell you many Ghanaians don't have that deficiency. We have a recall memory," he said.

He was responding to the acceptance speech by John Mahama after winning the just-ended National Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential primaries over the weekend.

The former President John Dramani Mahama polled an overwhelming 297, 603 votes representing 98.9% of the total valid votes cast at the end of the NDC primaries on Saturday to win in a landslide to become the party's flagbearer.

Mr. Mahama assured Ghanaians that he will rebuild the economy and bring back licences of banks which were wrongfully cancelled when elected President of Ghana again.

But James Kwabena Bomfeh, popularly called 'Kabila', doubts former President John Mahama can make any meaningful change.

"I would like to advice the former President that campaigns of grievances don't win elections," he said on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' morning show.

"President Mahama, in your tenure, four and half years, what one specific thing can we say you stand for?", he asked.

He also asked Mr. Mahama to heed a provision in the policies by the Constitutional Review Committee which questioned the eligibility of former Presidents to return into power.

"President Mahama should be concerned about what the Constitutional Review Commission said about his own, in paragraph 104, the eligibility to contest for these elections in 2024 as a former President who seeks to return to power. He should be concerned about that as a constitutional matter," he stated.
