Seasoned Journalist, Kwesi Pratt has admonished the electorates at Kumawu not to let the gifts they receive from candidates entice them.

The parliamentary by-election at Kumawu in the Ashanti Region is being held today with leaders and members of both the governing New Patriotic Party and the opposition National Democratic Congress hoping for their candidate to win the election.

The by-election is being held because of the vacant seat in the constituency resulting from the demise of their Member of Parliament, Philip Atta Basoah, which happened in March this year.

Four candidates including independent candidates are competing in the race to become the substantive MP for the constituency.

According to Kwesi Pratt Jnr., some candidates have been sharing cups of rice he called 'tu gyimi' to influence the votes of the electorates.

Speaking on Peace FM's 'Kokrokoo' show, Mr. Pratt found it very amusing that a vote could be bought with what he disclosed as two cups of 'tu gyimi' rice.

"Don't let any person use 'tu gyimi' rice and others to deceive you. Cast a good vote. A good vote is the one that will bring development to your constituency and Ghana," he cautioned.

This seems to have amazed the panel on the show as they wondered if what Kwesi Pratt was saying was indeed true.

But Mr. Pratt held his ground emphasizing that there are videos showing the electorates collecting cups of the rice in exchange for their votes, hence also wondering why his co-panelists looked stunned by his comment.

"Even in the North, if you don't give them maggi cube, it will be very difficult to win elections," he claimed.

"We need more by-elections everyday. God damn it!", Mr. Pratt laughed heartily.
