Former Head of Monitoring Unit at the Forestry Commission, Charles Owusu has 'declared' defeat for the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2024 elections.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Peace FM's morning show 'Kokrokoo' Charles Owusu said the NDC's flagbearer, Former President John Mahama has not brought anything new to the 'table' so far to convince Ghanaians that he's an alternative.
"What message has the NDC brought so far that they expect to win the 2024 election? They don't have anything to say. All former President John Mahama is doing is criticizing the ruling government but what different message is he bringing? If he's bringing something different, he should tell us but as we speak, he's said nothing. Until he tells us something new that we know will help the nation, he'll lose the upcoming election. If we want an alternative from the ruling government, it's not (former) President Mahama" he declared.

@Dan: Dan you have spoken well. I felt so happy reading what you have written here. To continue from the vote margin of about 1 million votes the NPP garnered to win the 2016 polls, what sis we see in 2020. Even with incumbency advantage and the roll-out of their so-called flagship programs, the 1 million margin in 2016 reduced to around 500,000, compounded by the loss of 32 parliamentary seats, reducing from 169 to 137. Is this progressive or retrogressive? Beyond 2020, what has the NPP done better to change the minds of the electorate in 2024? Of all the things they accused the Mahama-led NDC of, what have they done better. What was the dollar-cedi rate and the cost of a gallon of fuel as at January7, 2017, compared to now? The fuel cost and exchange rate are about 3-4 times what prevailed in January 2017. NPP should not blame this on external factors, because Bawumia knew that very well, yet he chose to use it as his campaign message and some Ghanaians who should have known better bought into those lies. NPP was desperate to assume power and put their strategies into action to milk Ghana. The corruption and corruption-related scandals that have rocked this NPP far surpass what they accused the NDC of. For me, I m not a card-bearing member of any political party, but between NPP and NDC, especially on.their track record, I think the NDC is higher up. Just as they used some NPP members against Charlotte Ose and the president proceeded to remove her, same way they are now using Ken Kuranchie to take Mahama out if the way, because they se Mahama as a threat. And because it was well planned to pack the supreme Court with judges sympathising with the NPP, they are confident of victory. This Nana Addo-led NPP has compromised all state institutions. Further to that, they have appointed many Deputy CEOs (DCEOs) to most of the state agencies. Some agencies that did not have even a single DCEOs, now have 2-4 of such positions and re paid very huge sums of money. Minerals Commission has 4 DCEOs and GNPC has 3 DCEOs, one of which is currently actibf as CEO. The 3 development authorities that we established by this NPP government, what have they been able to achieve. Each authority has one CEO and and a number of Deputies, depending on how many regions come under each authority. As you rightly said the silence of many Ghanaians is their weapon. Time will tell.
Look at this arm robber talking rubbish
If only they knew what Ghanaians have got hidden for you in 2024,you wouldn't be making such provocative statements . Your time is coming
Yes, Mahama definitely not an alternative. Question however is; what has the NPP done differently to make the ordinary Ghanaian who will be the deciding factor in the 2024 elections to also hold same view? That's the crux of the matter. From the provision of health infrastructure , educational infrastructure , modernized agriculture, aviation, major roads linking the regions/ districts, the business sector, tourism, vibrant private sector, pro poor interventions, international goodwill, construction of new water plants in major towns and cities , rural electrification , corruption etc . Which of these sectors have the NPP outperformed the NDC ? Am just asking . Currently the Ghanaian people are wide awake, they know whatever is happening thanks to the mass media. Today people go to their farms with radio sets and whiles working they listen to whatever is happening in their communities, some even have the opportunity to call into radio programs from their farms and work places thanks to mobile phones. 2024 elections will be an election of records. Mahama is coming back to campaign on his records. Either Bawumia, Allan or Kennedy Agyapong should any of them also win their party's primaries will also campaign on the records of Akuffo Addo. None of them can go back to Kufuor or Rawlings/ Atta Mills records . The Ghanaian people see development as infrastructure , things they can touch with their hands, things they can point to such as those listed above. This is where the fear is for the NPP . Personally I don't support the NDC/ John Mahama but going into 2024 i fear him. The fact that Ghanaians are quietly watching as things unfold makes the Ghanaian electorate highly unpredictable. Fear people who are quiet, you never can tell what's in their minds. The 2016 elections was a shocker for the NDC as if Ghanaians went outside the country to hold secret meetings to bring the NDC down. See the gap between the NDC ( incumbent ) with state resources at their disposal and the NPP ( opposition) struggling to procure enough campaign vehicles and yet the difference was about one million ( 1,000,000) votes. It is the same Ghanaians who are still around . The NPP should have at the back of their mind that " the people you meet on your way up are the same people you meet on your down". They better be careful. People are not happy at all with their style of leadership. They should get to the ground and hear the ordinary man/ woman in the street, they will better appreciate what am saying.
