President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation of Hon. Cecilia Abena Dapaah.
Resignation
The Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources announced her resignation in a letter on Saturday, July 22, 2023.
This follows a court case in which two house helps and others are standing trial for allegedly stealing $1 million, €300,000 and millions of cedis from her Ablekuma residence.
This took Ghanaians by surprise especially the fact that a Minister of State had such an amount stashed in her house.
According to Madam Dapaah, the media reports since July 21, 2022 “have been full of stories about a court case involving a theft that took place last year in the home I live with my husband and daughter. The stories sought to suggest that I own various huge sums of foreign currencies and millions of Ghana cedis which have been stolen from my home.
“Whereas I can state emphatically that those figures do not represent correctly what my husband and I reported to the Police, I am very much aware of the import of such stories around someone in my position.”
“I am resigning therefore, because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time,” she explained.
Acceptance
In response, President Akufo-Addo applauded Hon. Cecilia Dapaah’s loyalty to the image and standing of his Government, and thanked her also for her wholehearted contribution and devotion to the progress of Government and the Nation. He wished her the best in all her endeavours.
Meanwhile, the President will soon appoint a new Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources.

My last month paycheck was for 11000 dollars… All i did was simple online work from comfort at home for 3-4 hours/day that I got from this agency I discovered over the internet and they paid me for it 95 bucks every hour…..> . . . ——> www.pay.salary49.com
It's very heartbreaking realising sooner than later Ghana doesn't have any alternate political party. NDC showed devilish character and we thought Nana will come and change the narrative. To our surprise, we have witnessed with our own eyes the devil himself descending on us. Oh what a pity dilemma Ghana finds herself in
Prosecute her.Dont allow her to go scot free.Resignation and so what. she should be arrested. SHE is a big time T H I E F
Hmmm... what's even more threatening is the fact that he is leaving a very terrible precedent. Any elected president without a strong will against corruption and nepotism will easily follow his steps, after all there's a clear laid out strategy on how to get Ghanaians to be quiet and do what you like. What will become of Ghana if there's another one like this?
Imagine Oga himself and his vice and their close family and associates, 110+ ministers, + the worst greedy Inhumans in the Jubilee house, + MMDCEs, etc etc. Each one of these is ***barred word*** at unprecedented rate. Would we have had to be at IMF if these people were decent, moral and have conscience? It seems to me that anyone who has accepted nomination to be in this government has had to be corrupted at some point as a prerequisite to get along with the others, even if it's against their personal value system. Ceci mpo nice, na Ursula anaa , Hawa, anaa Frema
It is something when some us thought NDC is very corrupt so let bring Nana but they have disappointed us big time . Increases of taxes and spend the taxes on themselves and gone for loans for development .They are using the positions for their personnel gains .They promote buying and selling not producing .If our laws do not change corruption will lead us to a dangerous future .The IGP , Judiciary , EOCO , Auditor general, heads of government institutions should not be appointed by the president .
At this point, what more can we say? Don't we have enough reasons to conclude that Akufo Addo is an albatross on our neck? What a good riddance it will be when he finally leave with his bunch of heart1ess and dishonest appointees. To say it's sad is an understatement, but is there anyone person who's integrity and conscience in the camp of this man?
The president will soon appoint a new minister for sanitation and water resources? Why won't he leave the ministry vacant? Reschffle, Reshuffle , you say chinchinaaaa you won't. In one interview, the president was asked about a possible reshuffle of his ministers, he said he was satisfied with the performance of his appointees and that it was some NPP party supporters who were pushing for a reshuffle to also get the opportunity to be ministers. Now we want to know whether he will be appointing an NDC supporter as the new minister for sanition since no other NPP supporter deserves to be a minister apart from those currently serving as ministers. If you refuse to change, change will change you. As someone puts it " Power doesn't change a person , it only reveals who you really are. The current NPP appointees including the presidency are behaving like 4 year olds. A father on his way from work stops by a shop to buy a cake for his 4 year old child. On reaching home he hands over the cake to his 4 year old child and now ask the child to cut part of the cake for him ( the father) . The child says NO, i won't give you. forgetting that if the father wanted, he wouldn't have brought the cake home in the first place. The current NPP leadership have soon forgotten that it's the sacrifices of the common NPP supporter in the street who woke up at dawn by sacrificing his or her sleep to go and join the queue early to vote for the party that got the president and his appointees their current positions. How many of these people did you pay to sacrifice their sleep to vote for you? You don't even know some of them, infact majority of them. Some don't also need anything from you, it's just that they admire the NPP brand, that's all. As to why the current NPP leadership could'nt take any lessons from the Kufuor administration to serve as a guide is mind boggling. John Mahama can be likened to an orphan now because his two fathers Rawlings and Mills have both passed on. The current president has his father J.A. Kufuor sitting in the house. Go and sit by him and take lesson notes, that one too is a problem. You can't know more than your father. People have regretted for not growing up to meet their fathers. Others have their fathers still alive and kicking waiting to be used, yet they don't use them. Why won't you be committing P. 1 mistakes. The person you see walking on the street sweating will tell any presidential candidate if you were to get close to him or her that he or she doesn't need anything from you but you the presidential candidate / parliamentary candidate needs something from him or her i.e. his or her vote to become MP or president. So when ordinary people speak, listen. In a democracy, they are the kingmakers irrespective of their economic or social standing. They can make or unmake you. Pointing
NPP image is sinking and sinking fast because of perceived corruption. Although, NDC is super corrupt but if the trend continues, NPP will be defeated heavily. Majority of Ghanaians are corrupt but they hate elected politicians being corrupt. It means Ghanaians hate corruption big time and they want their elected leaders - MPs, ministers and governing party to lead by good example, fight corruption uncompromisingly and that will trickle down or serve as a massive deterrent to big and petty corrupt public officials at ministries, state institutions, police service, minerals commission, land commission, forestry commission and local government etc. Nana Addo and NPP, MPs of both NDC and NPP have failed. Look at what the NDC is doing to support Gyekye Quayson and Ato Forson trial. It is a corrupt behaviour. Yet NDC ran around accusing others of being corrupt....Ghanaians are discerning and understand what NDC is also doing
@Dan you have said it all. The current government and its appointees are breaking the hearts of their followers. Meanwhile the followers are not benefiting from all their corrupt practices but they have to defend them. How can you then tell me that NPP is better than NDC? Women in politics are now behaving like krriminals
