If indeed MP's are suffering, why are people ready to undo others to win their party's primaries at all cost. Why will someone spend close to GHC 500,000.00 ( 5 billion old cedis) in his or her constituency to enable him or her go to parliament as MP? 500,000.00 is enough capital to start doing any business in Ghana . It will be very difficult to convince the ordinary Ghanaian in the street that MP's are indeed suffering. What will say about Hon. Assembly members too? They have no salary, no incentives and their exgratia is charged on the assembly's local revenue (IGF) Some assembly's pay as low as GHC 1,000.00 as exgratia to their members after 4 years service. A woman in labour to be transported to hospital, assemblyman. lack of potable water in the community, assemblyman. Road to community is bad, assemblyman. School block is ripped off by wind storm, assemblyman. All these because he or she is the first point of call in the community. Meanwhile they earn nothing, the reason being that their work is sacrificial . Why can't MP's also sacrifice for their people? If an MP can get GHC 500,000.00 as exgratia in every 48 months depending on the number of times he's able to win parliamentary elections, what of that teacher, nurse, civil servant who worked for 30 years, but cannot retire with GHC 100,000.00 as lump sum from SSNIT?
