The picture of Vice President's wife, Samira Bawumia and Pammi of Kumkum Bhagya fame is gone viral on social media and has attracted both negetive and positive reactions.
Some section of the Ghanaian public has criticized the move by Madam Samira by insinuating that the picture was in a way endorsing the long-running Indian soap opera to the expence of the local movie industry.
One of such critics of the move is local movie producer, Ola Kwaku Michael. The movie producer was of the view that Samira Bawumia’s endorsement of the foreign series was enough to kill the already dying local movie industry.
He added that calls to cancel the Indian soap would mean nothing now that they have received the government’s approval with the picture.
Ola Michael who is a former FIPAG PRO and NDC activist sarcastically chastised the Second Lady’s move by congratulating her for being a great inspiration to the Ghanaian movie industry.
Many Ghanaians have called for an alternative Ghanaian content to replace the Indian series but the love many Ghanaians have for the soap opera knows no bounds and it is not likely the love and anticipation that comes with the show is going to end anytime soon.
Kumkum Bhagya is an Indian series that airs on Adom TV. The voice over for the series has been translated into Twi.

In case you dont know, yes it is by force to show the wife of the vice president who to mingle with and who she can take pictures with- you know why because she is been taking care off by Ghana and that means she is not a private person anymore who can just do what she likes. And for that series airing in Ghana it is the responsibility of government, media commission, ministry of education and culture to take it off our screens. What good do we get out of watching that series? The wife of the vice president should get herself busy with some proper chrity work promoting girls education and rural women empowerment in Ghana
When President Mahama stood and took a picture at CNN was he endorsing CNN news over GBC news? What kind of backward thinking is that? Why is that people dont think before talking.

Master make proper movies and stop complaining. If i had the opportunity to make a movie it would take me like 2 years to come out with one because of quality. You guys are just making anything. I miss the days of Bob Santo and Judas. Those movies were more entertaining.
One is even barred to take pictures with other countries movie stars. Please freedom ooh freedom. she did not propagate or sell out ur lukewarm films. Just concentrate and do ours better for it to be shown somewhere else
Everygody starts from somewhere so if Ghanaian movies are poor it is for this reason why it will need the support of every Ghanaian including the wife of the vice president to grow.Compare the first Toyota cars built by Japanese to the modern ones.Ghana is a developing country do you understand so it means we are growing every day do you understandThose that condemn everything Ghanaian are ***barred word*** people with low self esteem with slave and colonial mentality.Despite its development the poverty level in indian is harsh and more extreme than Ghana. Also do you what it means and how the racial and discriminatory caste system in india works? What benefit madam vice presidents wife does this meeting bring to us as Ghanaians?I mean what benefit socially, culturally, educationally and economicaly do we get from this your meeting samira?Have you thought of visiting the seat or the factories of APOSTLE KWADWO SAFO for example???Are you a true Ghanaian madam?

PhD. I have never been inspired by the so called dead amateurish Ghanaian one man movies. With a lot of shouting, poor screen play and no plot. Its become like a photo album you just watch over hyped comedians masquerading as actors. Nothing intriguing nothing exciting. How do you force your customers to keep watching this jokes of movies. Your customers deserve more and are also smart. They will always gravitate to the best product on the market. Kunkum bagya or whatever you guys call is has something the Ghanaian public wants. No wander they are trooping to this movie. Instead of crying wolf sit down and research and come up with equally good products with the needed ingredients so your customers stick with you.
