Outspoken actress Lydia Forson is not happy with Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
The actress says she is very repulsed by the Vice President’s decision to compare the current coronavirus pandemic to the power crisis that befell the country during former President John Mahama’s administration.
Lydia Forson made the comments in the wake of a press conference organised by Dr. Bawumia to respond to former President Mahama’s criticisms of the way President Nana Akufo-Addo has managed the economy.
During the Vice President’s press conference Monday, he compared how former President Mahama managed the power crisis, popularly called Dumsor, that crippled the country in 2015.
Sharing a video of Dr. Bawumia’s press conference, the Ministry of Information said “Two major crises have befallen our country in the last decade – Dumsor and Covid-19. The management of the economy under two different leaders during these crises periods is something we should all be interested in.”
Reacting to the post, Lydia Forson chastised the government for comparing the two crises.
“I can’t believe we’re comparing DUMSOR to COVID-19, a pandemic that threatens our very human existence. I’m utterly disgusted and extremely disappointed by this comparison,” she said.
Bringing the Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, into the fray, the actress added: “@konkrumah I know if you were still on air you would have grilled anyone who made this statement . smh.”

Ghana is full of so many ediots who can't manage their homes yet claim to have knowledge on all national issues. The President has categorically stated that this is a national fight, not a political fight and it was the right call! To quote him " We face a common enemy which neither discriminates between NDC or NPP". So how can any one justify that the comparison Dr Bawumia made isn't political? This not about which party does better in managing crises! This is about how we can collectively defeat covid-19 and come out of it with the least possible damage. There is no single individual, party or entity that can claim victory at the expense of any other in the fight against covid-19. We either win together or loose together. So in that context the VP goofed and should realign with his Boss's call for a united front in fighting the pandemic.
@Agya Koo, you are a very sturpiiid person and I wonder if you understand English or basic logic. @Don Biko's point is that you do not compare oranges and yam! Not even the best Economic brains at World Bank and IMF, who by the way are better than Dr Bawumia, can confidently state the impact of Covid-19 on any Economy. The best scientific brains don't understand what to do with Covid-19 and for some one to compare an internal, sector-specific energy issue to covid-19 is an insult to the health workers fighting an enemy no body fully understands. It is "ignoorant" at best and dumb at worst and this is no less a person than the VP of Ghana! It is shameful people are defending this s3nsl3ss comparison because of political affiliations!
I don't blame her. She lacks the intellect to understand the Vice President's statement just like most of her NDC people
Even common chalk management was a problem for JM. Hey Lydia, do you know how many Ghanaians lost their lives because of DUMSOR? From the operation theaters , economic hardships , collapse of businesses etc. JM (your darling boy) could not manage it but he's now complaining EVERYDAY about Nana's good efforts at managing the COVID-19. What is this COVID-19 that cannot be compared to anything? CSM had already killed more than 40; Give us a break.
This 11d0it calling herself celebrate who does she thinks she is? "Ghana aye fo" any 11di00t brotel can get up and speak rubbish
These so-called celebrities now look for the least opportunity to say something radical so they can trend on social media. That is their marketing strategy now. What else can they do? The brains are not there, and their bodies too are losing attractiveness, i.e. if they had any in the first place.
Must this girl ALWAYS open her mouth?
NDC folks , reading is different from understanding the content properly NDC followers have shallow minds to dissect the comparison between "DUMSOR and COVID 19" Honestly dumsor became pandemic when the Government at that time failed willfully to contain and as a result some Ghanaian's lost their life and jobs. The issue regarding dumsor was largely on financial capacities because Mr. Mahama incompetent could not address the problem but with COVID 19 major characteristics is a virus
Don Biko or whatever you call yourself. Can you in your senses agree with Mr Mahama that he managed Ghana's economy better does not deserve an answer like this from the 2IC? Seriously!!! Well, from O-Level Economics, I know that individuals require collateral to mitigate their risks if they access from from a bank. Same way national loans from multilateral and bilateral bodies and nations require the country's GDP, right? If you collateralize the country's GDP to the tune of 73% beyond the level of sustainability so much so that a "Receiver Body" like the IMF have to give you POLICY CREDIBILITY to assure your creditors, will you in your wildest of imagination think you managed the economy better than the one who us out??? Come on!!! We are not all illiterates my friend, at least government has not gone for A POLICY CREDIBILITY PROGRAMME. Give us some respect kakra wai! Mcttwwweeeeewwwwww
Am still confused about why people have a problem with this comparison. Anyone who understands it should please help me out. Bawumia fully understands that C19 is more a serious crisis than dumsor, he simply implored the NDC to look at the difference in response from his gov't and the NDCs'. He's simply saying "With a smaller problem you fumbled, with a bigger problem we are handling things better"
