Ghana is set to welcome the Queen's Baton Relay (QBR) on January 3, ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland next year.
The baton set to visit over 18 places will stay in Ghana for 72 hours.
Information pieced together by GNA Sports indicates that a brief welcome ceremony will take place on arrival at the Airport to precede the visit that starts at the Presidency on January 4.
The baton will officially be unveiled at the Flag Staff House where the President, John Mahama will usher in the tour which will rope in the Minister of Youth and Sports, Elvis Afriyei Ankrah , GOC President, Francis Doodo and among others.
The baton will go through the Manhyia Palace, selected television networks and principal streets in Accra and Kumasi. About 200 school children, 70 current and former athletes, 10 High Commissioners are expected to have a feel of the baton that is expected to visit 78 towns and villages across the country.
The QBR is an integral part of the celebration of the Commonwealth Games. As the traditional curtain-raiser to the Games, the QBR provides a great opportunity to promote the event and the athletes.
