Pharmaceutical giant, Ernest Chemist Ghana Limited has teamed up with United Kingdom-based Pharmaceutical Company, Medreich to provide medical support worth 15000 Ghana cedis to the AHfA Hockey tourney, which commences in Ghana next week.
The donation which will cater for the tournament’s medical needs is aimed at providing a comprehensive medicinal cover for the competition that spans July 10-18.
Michael Coffie, Country Manager of the company said his outfit will make available branded tournament first aid bags and medicines such as flex-it to ensure that players and fans are well-looked after during the competition which Ghana is hosting for the first time. He told the media in Accra on Friday that “we owe it a duty and an obligation to provide the medical cover for a tournament of this magnitude.” Mr Coffie said his outfit will also sponsor the Local Organising Committee’s (LOC) medical seminar billed for the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra on Thursday July 9.
He was optimistic that medications such as Flex-it, which is without banned substances for sportsmen and women will protect the players and aid healing throughout the competition. The proposed seminar will have participants drawn from the participating countries and the medical staff pieced together by the LOC for the championship. Abuga Pele, Chairman of the LOC was grateful for the gesture and urged corporate Ghana to emulate it.
“We are counting on the support of corporate bodies like Ernest Chemist and Medreich to stage a remarkable tournament come July 10-18.” He affirmed his trust in the brand and said the LOC will put all the products to good use in their quest to leave a lasting legacy for the competition.
