Defender Jonathan Mensah has joined newly promoted Ligue 1 side Evian Thonon Gaillard, the French club has confirmed.
The 20-year-old signed a four-year deal on Thursday and will play his first game this weekend in a friendly against Nantes in Amphion.
Mensah last season helped Spanish club Granada win promotion to the elite division while on loan from Italian club Udinese.
The former Free State Stars centre back won the 2009 World Youth championship in Cairo, Egypt, the first time an African side lifted the trophy.
He featured in three games at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and has since attracted interest from European suitors.
