Ghana legend Abedi Ayew Pele has rejected reports linking his son Andre Ayew to a January transfer move to big-spending Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala.
Reports in the French media suggested the nouveau riche Russian side have entered the race to sign the 21-year-old winger.
Ayew was linked with Arsenal in the summer and has had his qualities extolled by Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
Abedi, three-time African Footballer of the Year winner, has quashed the rumours saying Andre will not move to Russia in January.
“Andre must play for a club that has the potential to win trophies in Europe. After Marseille, he will join a club that can project him,” he told Accra-based Pravda Radio.
A host of stellar European clubs including Arsenal have lined up for the former Ghana U20 captain.
