Black Stars captain John Mensah has debunked the notion among the sporting populace that Ghana is under pressure to win the ultimate in the forthcoming Nations Cup.
The games pundits have tipped Ghana as favourites in the Gabon/Equatorial Guinea championship, thereby putting pressure on them. But the Lyon defender has given the assurance that the team is under no pressure ahead of the tournament.
The team is under no pressure as perceived by many. We are well composed and we plan to take every match as it comes, he said at the inauguration of the John Mensah Fun Club in Obuasi on Boxing Day.
I have confidence in the squad the coach has picked. I believe in the technical teams competence, and with the right state of mind and dedication I think we will make Ghana proud by lifting the trophy, he added.
Ghana is expected to leave for South Africa on January 8, 2012 to fine tune preparations ahead of the championship. Ghana is in group D with Guinea, Mali and Botswana.
