A former Education, Youth and Sports Minister under President Kufuor’s regime, Yaw Osafo-Maafo has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to add some influential old Black Stars players to the technical team ahead of the Ghana World Cup qualifiers against Sudan in Kumasi.

Yaw Osafo Maafo has add up to soccer pundits, fanatics and politicians who are fighting the agenda for a call up of former Black Stars players to help run affairs of the senior national team as motivators.

Ex-Ghana international Anthony Baffoe is purported to have also called on the GFA to name ex- Ghana Captain Stephen Appiah as a ‘redefined’ team manager in the Black Stars.

In an interview with Peace FM on “Peace Power Sports” programme, Yaw Osafo Maafo opined that; “on our technical bench, we must look at the whole thing. The Nigerians were having two or three old influential players in their technical bench during the AFCON. Where ever Stephen Appiah is they (the GFA) should bring him because he has a lets go spirit when it comes to communicating with the players for them to have the commitment”.

Adding; “In our current crop of players, there is no commitment exhibited on the field of play so they (the GFA) must look at the bench and hire someone who can talk to the players so they (Players) will show some commitment. If there is commitment in the team, Ghana will qualify easy to the World Cup because we have the talents, but the talents are not enough. You need a team and not a collection of talents. If based on collection of talents Cote d'Ivoire would have won the AFCON 2013”.
