Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has been named GhanaFans.coms Player of the Week, as he scored two minutes from full-time to secure a 1-0 away victory over Amavubi of Rwanda in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier played at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali on Saturday.
Wakasos perfectly placed free-kick in the 88th minute was the difference between the two sides after a closely contested game against the East African nation. The Black Stars struggled to break down the Rwandan defense, as they had to slow down the tempo to connect their passes on a pitch that was in very poor condition.
Swansea Citys Andr Ayew, who captained the side, also came close to finding the back of the net when he fired against the woodwork in the first period of the game.
Ghana have now sealed two wins from two games of the qualifying rounds for the 2017 tournament and sit at the summit of Group H with the maximum six points.
