Ghana FA presidential aspirant George Afriyie has warned Kwesi Nyantakyi will be hugely embarrassed if seeks a fourth term in office.
The Liberty Professionals director insists he is the right man to succeed the CAF vice-president and FIFA council member.
Afriyie has declared his intention to contest for the top job - which has widened the gap between the two personalities.
But the Okyeman Planners owner has warned his former boss not to kowtow to the undue pressure to seek re-election.
"People should not deceive him (Kwesi Nyantakyi). He will lose the elections. He has become unpopular. He does not have the public support. You may win with 123 delegated but when you don't have the support of over 23 million Ghanaian people, then there is a big problem," he told Asempa FM.
"It's an election and can also be deceived but I will contest whether he re-contest or not.
"I am very optimistic and so we should wait."
It appears the battle lines have been drawn for the two men ahead of next year's Ghana FA presidential election.
It's unclear if Mr Nyantakyi will seek re-election after publicly stating he will bow out.
But undue pressure from the ruling government and other stakeholders has thrown the battle wide opened.
