Kwami Sefa Kayi, host of Peace FM’s morning show ‘Kokrokoo’ has suggested the suspension of Ghana's premier league following the expose of corruption in the country's football.
The reigning GJA Journalist of the Year, was the first to drop the hint that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo's name was mentioned in the expose.
Ace investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas latest investigative piece dubbed "Number 12: When Misconduct And Greed Become The Norm”, exposes acts of corruption in Ghana football.
#Number 12’ was compiled in collaboration with Anas' Tiger Eye PI firm and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC).
Screening of the documentary which started yesterday, Referees and football officials were seen collecting bribe from undercover reporters to fix one match or the other. Some GFA officials were also seen engaging in nauseating acts of sleaze.
In view of this, renowned journalist, Sefa Kayi, feels the current league should be suspended.
On Thursday morning, during the sports segment with Dan Kwaku Yeboah and his sports crew, the Chairman-General Sefa Kayi was emphatic that the GFA should be dissolved immediately and the league iced as well as international assignments of the various national teams should be put on hold.
He argued that move would be very crucial in helping to restore the tainted image of the game in Ghana.
He said: "dissolve the GFA, suspend the league and Ghana international assignments should be put on hold"
Meanwhile, the GFA in a statement has assured that there will be no attempt of a cover-up or shield of any member caught in alleged acts of corruption.
