Former Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and now Chief Executive Officer of the Atta Mills Institute, Mr Koku Anyidoho says President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo deserves no praise for the passage of the Right to Information [RTI] bill.
He emphatically stated the President was “lucky” to have the bill passed under his tenure – after claiming he absolutely did nothing to see to its passage.
“Why are we praising the President?” he quizzed.
According to Koku, Parliament is rather the appropriate body worthy of commendation for the yeoman’s role it played to ensure the bill is passed after several years of hiccups.
“Let’s rather commend parliament, parliament is made up of both NDC and NPP. They made sure the bill was passed. So it will be appropriate that we thank the representatives of the people of Ghana in parliament,” he said in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’.
Ghana’s parliament on Tuesday, 26 March 26 passed the Right to Information Bill - It now awaits presidential assent.
The bill was relayed before Parliament in March last year by the Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice Joseph Kpemka Dindiok after the previous parliament, the sixth of the fourth republic failed to pass it into law.
It had been over two decades since it was first drafted under the auspices of the Institute of Economic Affairs, IEA and more than a decade since the Executive arm of government in 2002 drafted the first RTI bill.
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, during his third state of the nation address to parliament on Thursday, 21 February 2019, said he was ready to sign the Bill into law as soon as it was passed by parliament.
"Mr Speaker, I’m happy to state that as you know, Parliament has virtually completed its deliberation on the Right to Information Bill and any moment from now the nation will hear the news of its long-anticipated passing. I will happily assent to it as soon as it’s brought to my table,” President Akufo-Addo said.

@@Kwao and how many votes do you have?Ghanaians are not ***barred word*** ok? look at the pattern of the 2016 votes and compare to 2000-2009 ,then 2009 for Atta Mills and know there are the majority who don't like ndc, get a life for your party will never come back. NPP are patriotic to Ghana, they are compassionate to Ghanaians, they are sensitive to the people because they are Ghanaians and ndc are not.SIMPLE!
Even this one too you will not give credit, Eiii NDC, well Satan will never appreciate anything good in Jesus
Now I see that the whole fraternity shivers when they see Nana Addo or hears his name in anything. The who NDC fraternity and jealous of Nana Addo and they attach personal hatred to any good thing Nana Addo does. NDC and their supporters should get ready cos Nana Addo will move from glory to glory and they better understand that Nana Addo is an annointed one from God and nothing that they will do will ever affect him. It seems they have not sat down to think about it. When ever they talk bad about Nana Addo and NPP something spectacular happens which is the make of God almighty to tell they the NDC that their thinking is shallow and hallow.
I think this is too childish. When negative things happens at his time it is attributed him.So positive things must equally be attributed to him .
Koku calm down. There is too much bitterness in you. The Bill will eventually be signed into law by no other person than HE Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo whether YOU like it or not. Your too much talk is not going to change anything. He promised that he will ensure the bill becomes law and he has done it. THIS IS A PROMISED FUFILLED.
Sometimes it baffles me how surrogates of NPP think this country belongs to them. You have only one vote. Let's see what happens in 2020.
But you who think you deserve praise did NOTHING about it for *yrs! Oh, NDC! You HATE Nana Addo for NOTHING, but God continues to bless him in ALLLLLLLLL his programs! NEVER vote NDC because they do not have anything good for us. All they know is CREATE, LOOT & SHARE!
Eii the sleeping bull is awake now. Unfortunately, he has woken on the wrong note and is in the news for the wrong reason. Koku, please calm down... you said in the days of Agya Atta Mills that you hated ex-Prez Kuffour to the core and that you didn't want to see his face. Before you realised, he had visited you and your Agya Atta in the old slave castle where you were all smiles. I bet you will soon bow to Akuffo Addo on this unworthiness of praise you are talking of. I guess it is best for you to go back to where you woke up from and continue to sleep. Hahahahahaaaaaa!!!!
See, this and many more is the reason why the NDC will stay in opposition for quite a long, long time. They hate the man Akuffo Addo to the core and will never praise him for any good he does, but we, the discerning Ghanaians are watching come 2020. Since inception of President Akufu-Addo he has never done a thing right in the eyes of the NDC and Kwesi Pratt. Time alone will tell. But a ruler who governs his state by virtue is like the north polar star, which remains in its place while all the other stars revolve around it.
Out of recovery ward bamm. Welcome Efo Kokuvi. leke?
