Inflation for the month of February shot up from 8.8 percent to 10.0 percent.
The figure which represents a monthly change of 2.6 percent is the highest inflation rate since June 2010.
Food inflation for February also increased to 5.3 percent while non-food inflation increased to 12.6 percent.
Acting Government Statistician Dr Philomena Nyarko attributed the trends to the recent hikes in prices of petroleum products as well the increase in prices of some essential commodities.
At the regional level, the Northern region recorded the highest inflation rate of 12.0 percent while the Western region recorded the lowest inflation rate of 7.4 percent.
