Fishermen who use outboard motors will soon be hit with shortage of Premix fuel as stock is expected to last till Friday 15th August, 2014.
This follows liquidity challenges facing the company that supplies the product which is highly subsidised, resulting in the accumulation of a huge debt for government.
Confirming the shortage on Thursdays edition of Kokrokoo, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD), Mr Senyo Hosi said the premix fuel in stock will last only up to Friday.
He indicated that even though there will be shortage, they are taking steps to resolve it.
According to him, the commercial banks are refusing to issue letters of credit to pre-finance the importation of petroleum products as well as to help in the production of the premix fuel which is done in the countrygovernment also has a role to play in the shortage.
We are taking steps to resolve the issueeven though government also have an amount to pay; which is another cause for the shortage, they are taking steps to pay their debt and so very soon the situation will get better, he indicated.
