Why?
This evening, I am asking why? Why is it that no Ghanaian bank has crossed the boundary and established in other African countries or the UK, Europe, Asia?
But banks from Nigeria, South Africa, France, etc have established in Ghana? Why is it that we cannot name indigenous Ghanaian private sector companies that have been in business successfully for more than 50 years?
Why do we prefer state-owned or foreign-owned to Ghanaian owned? We can’t allow our neighbors or school mates or “friends” to succeed?
Why is it that when a Ghanaian company faces challenges, the answer is close it, make noise and disgrace the owners? Aren’t challenges meant to be solved? And we wonder why we continue to import everything? And wonder why the Cedi cannot match the pound or euro or dollar?
Why do we think that Dangote, Elumelu, Buffet, J P Morgan, Bill Gates did not face challenges or make mistakes on the way up? What if their companies had been vilified and closed when problems showed up?
So what if we stopped using the Cedi every time it lost value significantly against the dollar? What would we do?
And what if we banned political parties every time they lost an election? What would happen to NPP and NDC?
Why do we love sweet words, and those who promise “milk and honey”, no losses, no hard work, no problem and instant wealth yet live in these difficult conditions?
More to come. I am not done yet!

Lack of good corporate governance is the cause of many of the problems of our local businesses. As one commentator said, instead of growing the business and enjoying the returns in future, many of our local businessmen divert company funds into other ventures as soon as they see little growth. Dr Ndoum for instance own many businesses including printing press, football team, farms, hotels etc apart from his banking sector businesses. Recently he has been building the Nduom University College of Business and Technology. The question is where did the funds for the additional businesses come from? It is highly likely he used depositors funds to set up the additional businesses. Now depositors are having difficulty accessing their deposits. Instead of owning up he is rather complaining and blaming others.
Dr. you believe in you family, those companies of other African countries were not family companies. tell me any Banking Company that is from other countries that belongs to families. You did cause your own challenges, you wanted it all for your family, How do we call that. You know you Business practices was all wrong, you took people savings to open you companies, how do you make it when they ask for it. It is a lesson to all of us.you have cause all these problems for my business our business. You know what was right but you failed to do otherwise
When you mix business with politics that is what you get...period!
Dr, you are the cause of your current problem. When you don't communicate to your clients, what do you expect. Change your ways. We know when there is a run on a financial institution, it will collapse. But you decided to keep mute and give different promises.
Your business was booming under NDC but you were not satisfied and hence called for which eventually happened. The problems you are lamenting about are as a result of the change you preached. When next you business is doing well under a particular administration try as much as you can to offer constructive criticism instead of allowing bitterness get the best of you. Learn your lessons the hard way. Enjoy the change you preached
I read an article you wrote years ago and it was the front page of a magazine of how you lost 2 million US dollars just in a day. The first Ghanaian to own a bank in the State. You were a promising Ghanaian coming up at that time but instead of the political power to support you, they rather investigated you and tried to ruin you. I share your resentment. But through your negotiations skills you were able to overcome and you came back to Ghana to establish. Gave employment to the mass Ghanaians. That is love for your country. To me, not only do you have good negotiation skills but you are also sensitive to the needs of Ghanaians. You love Ghanaians and that is because that's who we are. We are different from the Westerner's in terms of their perception of the business world. In their part of the world, you would need something for an exchange to another. Paa Kwesi, you understood this principle and you were able to use it during your work with the meat factory in US. Ghanaians or Africans are different. We want things for free because our land bear crops that were not cultivated. What we need in Africa is neither money nor hard work. What we need is more love and fairness in our system. The economy of Ghana can only thrive in the atmosphere of love.Through that, many will know and wisdom to be able to build everlasting wealth for our generations to come. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah started it so why can't we even now that knowledge has abounded. It is not all about Justice but it is more about Love. Without Love, there will not be true justice.I am looking forward to meeting you Dr. Paa Kwesi Ndoum. 0546884048
