A Tarkwa Circuit Court has remanded Thomas Olabi, 22, Mishack Ofori, 18 and Azuma Agela a 35 year-old farmer, into prison custody for allegedly engaging in illegal mining.
They pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on November 10 this year.
Prosecuting, Police Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court, presided by Mr. Justice Obeng Asante, that the complainants are security officers of Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa Mine, while the accused persons are residents of Badukrom in the Tarkwa Nsueam municipality.
He said at about 1100 hours on October 29, this year, the security officers of the company who were on patrol duty spotted the accused persons with three shovels, two pick axes and three torch lights engaging in illegal mining.
The Prosecutor said Olabi, Ofori and Azuma were subsequently arrested with the exhibits and handed over to police.
