The government has indicated that UTAG arrears of market premium for 2012 will be paid in three installments.
The first installment, which will be paid next month will cover four months arrears, the second tranche which will be paid in July will also cover four months arrears while the last four months will be paid in September.
A release signed by the Minister for Information and Media Relations, Mahama Ayariga, said the Chief of Staff, Prosper Bani, has urged university lecturers to call off the strike while government mobilises the needed resources to pay the first tranche next month.
The Chief of Staff further appealed to UTAG to resume work given government's undertaking to pay the arrears based on arrangements applicable across board for all other public sector workers owed similar arrears.
