The Chairman of the Ghana National Fire Service Council (GNFS), Alhaji Amadu Sorogho has urged Ghanaians to be vigilant and take precautionary measures to avert the occurrences of fire outbreaks in the nation.
Speaking to Radio Gold on Thursday, he implored the citizens to learn from the experiences that have since characterized the country, particularly markets, resulting from the spread of fires.
Accra has over the weeks been caught up in unfortunate incidents of fire outbreaks with recent one being the Makola No. 2 market close to Agbogbloshie.
The market which was on Tuesday night gutted by fire is the fifth market to be hit by such misfortune.
The GNFS Chairman, addressing the issue, noted that the Council will summon a meeting tomorrow to adopt measures to curb the situation.
He called on the general public to cooperate with the Fire Service as investigations are held into the causes of the fire outbreaks in the country.
