Two men have been put before a Koforidua Circuit Court for fighting over pregnancy leading to stabbing of one of them.
The two accused persons are Mawuli Debrah, 42, a spinner and Tahiru Ahmed, 33, a driver.
Presenting the facts of the case before the court, the Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Bernard Annor explained that the two accused persons were both residents of Koforidua-Nsukwao in the Eastern Region.
He said Mawuli accused Tahiru of impregnating his sister and failed to accept responsibility.
The situation created enmity between the two accused persons which resulted in fierce fighting leading to injuries.
He said, later in the evening at around 10pm, the accused persons again met and engaged in another fight in which Tahiru sustained a deep scissors stab in his chest.
Both reported the case to the Police and a medical form was issued to the two to attend Hospital for medical treatment. Tahiru subsequently underwent surgery at the Koforidua Regional Hospital.
After investigations, the two accused persons were charged for disturbing public peace, while Mawuli was additional charged for causing harm.
The Koforidua Circuit Court fined Mawuli GH¢ 1,200.00; in default he will serve a year in prison. Tahiru was, however, cautioned and discharged.
Mawuli is expected to reappear before court for trial on the charge of causing harm.
