A Primary Five pupil of Aggrey Primary School at Achimota, a suburb of Accra, has allegedly committed suicide by hanging.
The deceased, identified as Belinda Gabla, 14, purportedly committed the act on Saturday, March 11, 2017, at about 7:30 pm. She was found hanging on a tree close to their residence at Dome Pillar Two in Accra.
It is however, not clear the reason for the purported action, but residents suspect that she might have done it out of broken heart.
This adds to four the number of persons who have allegedly taken their lives in Accra alone in less than a week.
It would be recalled that a final-year student of the University of Ghana, Jennifer Nyarko, on Wednesday reportedly committed suicide by jumping from a four-storey building on campus.
That same Wednesday, the body of a taxi driver was discovered hanging on a tree at Achimota and Monday morning, another body was discovered by the Ashaiman police hanging on a tree at Ashaiman Jericho.
Information as at press time yesterday indicated that Belinda Gabla lived with her grandfather and another elder sister identified as Janet Gabla at their uncompleted self-contained apartment at Dome Pillar Two.
Their mother is a trader who plies her trade from Accra to Bator in the Volta Region and often visits the family at their Dome residence.
On that fateful Saturday morning, a witness said, Belinda, together with her sister, performed their household chores without any suspicion that she had any problem.
At about 7:15 pm, after helping in the preparation of supper, she joined the grandfather and her sister to dine after which she collected the plates to wash.
The grandfather later reportedly went into his room to sleep and after sometime, he came out for fresh air only to discover that his granddaughter was hanging on a tree close to the house.
The Accra Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Efia Tenge, said police received a report from Edward Agbemabia, grandfather of the deceased Saturday night.
She said the police went to the house to pick the body to the Police Hospital for preservation while investigations continue.

I was in this country during Gen. Acheampong ' s time even though young in school there was nothing like this 1979 was my first vote and nothing like this happened nobody envied nobody, there was no hate and those in politics were people with substance so they didn't care much about politics. Imagine Makola women funding Dr Nkrumah's CPP that shows how even the uneducated during those times were hardworking and rich. Then came the AFRC which was short lived like the NLC of Kotoka, Afrifa and co. Then came the Rawlings P/NDC of injustice like somebody was holding someone from working hard to earn a living and this injustice mantra attracted the lazy do nothing failures in life who thought they have to make money and get rich at all cost so started with their hidden hatred and envinessss which has lived with us up till now. These people who have no vision for their own lives think being in politics means the survival of the fittest so whatever they will do to remain relevant in Ghana politics for them to survive they will do and wouldn't mind d killing people to get their wish so these people consulted foreign cults, voodoo and juju and these spirits are alien in our country so have no mercy because those who consulted them far away gave out the people of Ghana as scrifice. A pastor revealed sometime ago after the circle fire which killed so many Ghanaians that it was a sacrifice to a foreign juju which was contracted by some politicians especially those from the party of Flt.Lt JJ Rawlings who mistook laziness as injustice and fought for lazy people who had no vision on their own lives and they think politics is the only way to survive so have contracted wicked spirits to do their evil work for them to get power and the results are what we seeing today. Ndc is not good for Ghana, ndc is anti Ghana, ndc is evil and they are agents of the devil. Ghanaians must never allow them to come to power they should be in opposition to disintegrate. Whatever they do against this new government, Nana Addo and his administration they will fail and Nana Addo and his government will succeed to glorify the name of the LORD. Ghanaians be patient for the first 4 years of his administration to get the progress and prosperity we all asked from God,ndc was giving 8 us*less years for nothing why can't we wait for 4 years for something. Ndc are just depressed and mad about their humiliated and massive defeat which has led them to kpokpogbligbli attack so talking anyhow, don't pay no mind to them for they are still the same wicked people who have nothing good for you but think only of themselves, how to ste*l and get rich while you are poor. God will never allow it to happen.
Ghanaian should cast their minds back to when the NPP won the election in 2000 what followed was serial killing of our women in pattern that looked the same and burning markets. Now another NPP President in control what are we seeing school girls committing suicide and accident involving young girls all over the country. The question is why is it that it is only when the NPP come to power that such things happens. We all witness the kind of sacrifice the leaders of NPP made and going to visit several cultism centre and shrine like the one he went to in the South Eastern Nigeria. I can bet you those areas in Nigeria are well known for cultism. They cannot do anything without involving pouring human blood . So fellow Ghanaian it is pay back time. Our young ladies and children are the victims. We should all try to pray for God intervention .
God have mercy on our motherland Ghana cos this is becoming too much, i think parents must pray hard for their children cos i dont know what have come over the youth of today to be commiting suicide like that, God should save the youth from these kinds of death
AAAAH THIS IS TOO MUCH, HOW CAN A YOUNG PERSON AT THAT AGE HUNG HERSELF. THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG SOMEWHERE. RELIGIONS LEADERS PLEASE ARISE LETS ALL PRAY TO OUR MAKER TO HELP US IN THIS SITUATION.
Media likes death. So is on the rise for them to report. Great job journalists.
