The people of Denkyira-Obuasi have courted negative media in recent times after the lynching of an army Captain [Now Major] in their town in the Upper Denkyira West constituency.
Videos and pictures of the gruesome murder of the army officer went viral on social media with the country condemning his ‘killers’.
Many have concluded that the entire indigenes from the town and its environs must be wiped-out for bringing an unbearable pain to the late Major Maxwell Adam Mahama’s family and the nation at large.
But the immediate past Member of Parliament (MP) for Upper Denkyira West, Ben Aryeh has noted that the perception about the entire Denkyira township is “Unfortunate”.
Speaking on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’ - Ben Aryeh said the people of Denkyira are known as peace loving people like all Ghanaians and hence ought not to be considered as people who enjoy killing others.
“There are angels in Denkyira-Obuasi as well. Whatever be the case, there are peaceful people in the town,” he told host Kwesi Aboagye.
Suspects arrest
Forty five persons including six females have so far being arrested in connection with the murder and have been remanded into prison custody in Accra and Cape Coast.
The former Military Captain who was promoted to the rank of Major by President Akufo-Addo during his visit to the widow and the bereaved family is set to be buried on Friday, 9th July, 2017.

Papa Past or Ex MP or what or whoever you think you are! It will be very prudent to "shush" and not angry us the more...... which or what kind of "angels" are you referring to? Will such words bring back the slained soldier? Will these so called "angels" you are referring to bring back a son, a husband, a father, a gallant soldier your so called "angels in disguise" MURDERED? Papa you better keep mute before we descend on you!!!
Honorable mr mp, please stop defending the indefensible. it is the bible that if a bad king rules a nation, all his people suffers. it is no one's fault that children suffer for the sins of their parents. Prof Agyekum always says this 'if one bad person is allowed to strive,he ends up taking everyone as a slave'please forgive my translation. the BIBLE, which is the human life manual says that curses affect as far 4 generations. so it is no ones making. it is a price they have to pay for keeping quit over the sins of others. its about time people begin to face facts and stop that HUMAN FACE THING. PEOPLE SHOULD THINK OF THE NEXT GENERATION. we are humans created in the image of GOD. IF YOU ARE OFFENDED BY THIS, I'M SORRY BUT THAT THE TRUTH.
Mr past MP you don't know you history. If 'Angels' appear now you will manhandle them the same way.
In fact there are no angels in Denkyira-obuasi including you 'hornarable'.Get out.
Mr. Ben Ayeh, I will rather respectfully, you ***barred word*** and let us in peace and with heavy heart bury our gallant soldier. If really there are angels in that town they must definitely had been long transformed and corrupted into lunatics. You are not aware. I am telling you. These people were also carried nine months in the womb. Waste of time and the country's resources. My honourable brother do not try to console us now. It is too early and fresh. Find some other important engagements to think of. Wai
