The National Communications Authority [NCA] has threatened to close down an Accra-based radio station, Radio Gold over unpaid license fee.
The station which is affiliated to the opposition National Democratic Congress [NDC] owes the authority a whooping amount over the years.
It is unclear the exact amount the Laterbiokorshie-based station owes and over what period of time.
According to Starr FM (an Accra-based private radio station), National Communications Authority has already shut down Montie FM, a sister station to Radio Gold over the same issue.
Montie FM became popular in the build-up to the 2016 elections when some panelists who had appeared on a political show were jailed by the Supreme Court for threatening judges with death.

why politicize this kind of issue. what is wrong with us. if something is not in your favour then we say its politics. we will not get anywhere if we dont change our mentality. i urge the NCA on to do their job even if it is witch-hunting as some are claiming.
NPP has started bearing its vampire teeth at all pro-NDC businesses or any institution perceived to be sympathetic to NDC. The million dollar question is why has it taken NCA so longer a time to act only after the assumption of power of NPP ? Yet closing one station and leaving the other to continue transmission really begs the question as to what exactly went into this diabolic decision. NPP claims in its boasting of having over 90% of the Ghanaian media on their side; yet breathes brimstones and venoms against these two radio stations which in the analysis of many observers, are considered a scathing thorns in the flesh of the ruling NPP. These intimidations won't dumpen the spirit of Radio Gold and Montie. This Party.
Lets check if its only radio gold or Montei. Stop this witch hunting. there are a lot of other print and audio media companies who owes but just because somebody hate so called NDC attach companies are being attack. Shame
It was because NDC was in power that is why they were not paying.
why do they give time to Radio Gold to pay and did not do same to Montie FM God dey
NCA biegya......lol
Since when did NCA realised that Radio Gold owes them? Some of our institutions with power only act when we have a change in govt..... If NDC were to win the 2016 elections the NCA cannot take this decision.......
NCA do your job... That's all !!!
