Ashanti regional Minister Simon Osei-Mensah stormed a church early Saturday to protest “incessant noise making” by the church because of an ongoing all-night service there.
Members of the church, the House of Bethel Ministries at Anwomaso High Tension in the Ashanti region were stunned when the Minister who lives nearby overran the service, demanding its immediate end.
A source close to the development reported that Mr. Osei-Mensah angrily snatched a microphone from one of the church’s singers, knocking a musical instrument to the floor in a bid to vent his spleen over the rowdiness of the service.
The action of the Minister, the source told Ultimate FM’s Isaac Bediako stunned some Junior Pastors of the church leading to a short verbal melee. They thus refused to stop the service, added the source.
The regional Minister, according to the report then went out of the church returning a few minutes later with heavily built Police men who stopped the service abruptly and arrested the Head Pastor Rev. Kwame Takyi.
He was taken to the Tech Police station for questioning and checks from the station indicate that the pastor had since been granted bail.

The minister had a genuine concern with the level of noise that was coming from the church but he cant take the law into his own hands and storm the church and order them to close the service, secondly the abuse of power by bringing in the police to arrest the pastor and stop the service is very wrong, did anyone perform any form of test the verify is the sound coming from the church was indeed above the allowed sounds level? i remember the AMA sometime ago went around town with their equipments to measure the sound levels coming out of churches, spots etc and those who were above the allowed levels were made to pay a fine and reduce their noise levels. please we shouldnt use the wrong approach in dealing with issue and then try to justify it.
good!!!! the noise from churches is unbearable these days and nobody seems to care.... despite all the church activities there's more sinning in this age than ever before!!!
Good move. It's about time.
IF PERSUATION FAILS, FORCE MUST BE APPLIED. I HAVE A COLLEAUGE CHIEF NEXT VILLAGE AND HE HAS COMPALINED TO ME ONCE. THE MISISTER WAS I MILLION PERCENT RIGHT. I DONT CARE HOW HE HANDLED IT. THE PASTOR MUST GET SOME JAIL TIME AS A WARNING TO OTHERS.
Catholics and alike churches does not behave this way. this churches auditorium might not be full, I mean no overflow congregation but would bring public addresses system outside disturbing others piece.
As Christians, we must know that as we have the right to pray all-night, others also have the right to enjoy their sleep. Our prayers should not disturb others who want to sleep. Excessive noise-making that disturbs other people is unchristian.
Instead of just calling the police chief to deal with this, this b.uf.foon wanted to throw his weight about and show his power. If there is a single sen.si.ble person in the npp leadership, the NDC would be in opposition for many many years for their thi.ev.ery.But The way things are going,f.o.ol.s in govt giving NDC ammunition to attack, the npp will not rule past 8years.
I was a senior usher of the local branch of our church in London and, for the 6 years that I was there, we had uncountable number of all-night services. Nevertheless, there was not a single time that people in houses that shared wall with the church had the cause to complain to the local authority. This is because we were always mindful of their presence and of the rightful use and enjoyment of their properties. We also always knew that our all-night service did not mean that they shouldnt be able to sleep. This inpuinity must must stop! We need to learn to respect the rights and interest of other people. Your church service should not prevent people from having a good night sleep. We cannot offer a pleasing worship to God by stamping on the right of others.
A typical kokoase minister who has lived with lies and idiotizmmm. where is the rule of law. the so called delta force or whatever you call them went to law court to disrupt proceedings and you did not not do shiiiiit. the head of the church could be summon and brought before law court and made to sign bond. This will serve as deterant to other churches instead of using your patapaa means. you were appointed minister through legislative instrument and not the inward behavior. we want democracy so lead by example please and champion democratic course
Bad reportage. This is not how it went down. I listened to both parties on hello FM. The minister is 1000% right. Why are churches sited in residential places? Even if they are why the use of loud microphones at night? We Christians ought to be more considerate in our way of doing things. Residents may be suffering from high BP etc and will need to rest.
