Today 15th July is World Youth Skills Day, set aside to recognize the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills including technical and vocational education and training for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship by 2030 in fulfillment of goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) whilst highlighting the crucial role of skilled youth in addressing current and future global challenges.
The importance of developing the potentials of our youth and equipping them with the requisite skills to make significant contributions to our nation’s development cannot be overstressed. Through the Youth Leadership and Skills Training Institutes (YLSTIs) and the many capacity-building programmes, the National Youth Authority is committed to providing avenues for Ghana’s youth to acquire skills and develop their potentials to identify and exploit economic opportunities and contribute to the nation’s growth and development.
The global theme for this year, “Skills for a Resilient Youth” is even more instructive amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
The resilience, energies, and creativity of our youth will more than ever before, be needed to aid recovery efforts and adapt to future occurrences at the same time as driving the transformational agenda of the government.
The Board, Management, and Staff of the National Youth Authority, wish all young people a Happy World Youth Skills Day.
