The Office of the National Chief Imam (ONCI) says it has observed the changing pattern of politics in the Zongos ever since Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia assumed office as Vice President.
In a Facebook post to express gratitude to Dr. Bawumia for his show of respect to the National Chief Imam for officially visiting him to inform him of his re-nomination as running mate, the Office of the National Chief Imam commended the Vice President for transforming politics in the Zongos to development based.
"The ONCI (Office of the National Chief Imam) wishes to acknowledge that it observe the changing pattern and nature of politics in the Zongo communities since Dr. Bawumia became the Vice President," the Office of the National Chief Imam wrote on its its official Facebook post.
The Office further commended Dr. Bawumia for inspiring many development initiatives in Zongo communities, especially in the area of education.
"The Office of the National Chief Imam (ONCI) wishes to take this opportunity to express its gratitude to the Vice President and the President for some number of initiatives that the current administration took to uplift and raise the living standards of the Zongo community, part of which is the establishment of the Zongo Development Fund (ZDF), the acquisition of 40 scholarships specifically for residents of the Zongo to learn medicine and other science related field in Cuba and the Government plans to make this program an annual exercise.”
In a direct caution to other political parties and leaders without policies whose sole aim is to exploit Zongo communities by attempting to woo them through the provision of sugar and rice, the Office of the National Chief Imam said Zongo communities of today are wide awake and are not interested in such politics.
"The Zongo communities of today (is) no longer interested in receiving bags of rice, sugar and some material things during festive sessions but rather scholarships, employment for its graduates, vocational skills for its drop-outs and entrepreneurship/empowerment trainings that will translate into development into Zango communities."

@Awudu, sometimes truth hurt but if you are able accept and recognize some developments scattered in our Zongo communities it will kill away your bitterness for the NPP. Look at the scholarship scheme for the Zongo students to go and do medicine overseas.
Bogus statement from the spokesperson of the chief Imam who has been bought by barwumia and mustapha hamid to do their bidding. The spokesperson has collected rice and sugar from barwumia to make this awful statement in the name of the office of chief Imam. By the way, who is arguing with him. Why this statement at this time? Simple! Upon all the pretence of barwumia, we the moslem youth still don't mind him and he knows that he doesn't have the chance of having even 5% of the moslems youth, so he is conniving with the spokesperson to issue this baseless statement to create an impression that he has done something. Our venerable chief Imam, is very sacrosanct so no one should be speaking untruth on his behalf. At his age he is not ready to sow seed of division in the country among parties. This statement should be disregarded. It is not from the chief Imam himself. It is from barwumia's sycophant. The chief Imam doesn't use Facebook.
Matured statement. This is the best way to let politicians know that Zongo communities deserves better than rice and sugar. Much love
BAM! The master of Economic congratulations
Distribution f rice and sugar has been the MODUS OPERANDI of NDC for the past years. Is good the Office of Chief Iman has recognized this. NDC has been in power for many years and majority of their appointees come from the Northern part of Ghana but that place is the most poorly developed in Ghana. They only pay lip service to them. NPP is people party and care for the people. NDC will be in opposition till THY Kingdom come. They have nothing good for Ghana.
Not only has he changed that but also made politics to be more of issue based than it used to be before with his boss since 2008. He will reign again and project Islamic high. He is the only vice president who has invited the Moslem community to break their fast at the presidency. We need his and his boss again
