The Controller and Accountant-General’s Department (CAGD) has suspended payment of September 2022 salaries to some public sector workers.
According to a statement, the CAGD said the suspension is due to an “ongoing quality assurance and other validation processes”.
“As a result of the Quality Assurance and other validation processes undertaken by Controller and Accountant General Department, there has been the need to suspend the payment of September 2022 salaries to some employees whose bank names are mismatched on the GoG payroll system while others had invalid bank account numbers on the system” the statement added.
“For employees with invalid bank account numbers, they are supposed to submit their correct account numbers to the PPSs for update”.

In as much as we want a very clean payroll devoid of ghost names, the controller and accountant general department is not fair to the affected employees. Why can't the CAGD task it's regional offices to collate this information and report with the necessary documents accordingly. At this time of month most of the affected employees would have finished spending their meagre salaries and you expect them to travel all the way from their stations to Accra? The government itself is broke much more a Ghanaian public sector worker . Is the Controller saying only staff at their head office are competent . Is it Accra that determines one's competence as if to say the CAGD regional offices can't handle this simple exercise? It would have been easier under the current economic difficulties for the affected staff to travel from their districts to their various regional offices of the CAGD than coming to Accra. Is the controller aware that it's not every public sector employee in Ghana who knows Accra? Is the CAGD aware that it will takessome people 16 hours to sit in a bus from Bawku, Bunkurugu, Hamile, Tumu, Zebila, Zabzugu, tatale to Accra?
