An Accra circuit court has sentenced Mohammed Fuseini, unemployed, and Issac Rabiu Mohammed, mechanic, to 20 years imprisonment each for robbery contrary to section 149 of Act 29/60.
Police Chief Superintendent Duuti Tuaruka told the court, presided over by Mr Francis Obiri that the complainant in the case was a student.
He said on December 17, last year at about 16:30, the complainant was walking from Trust Towers premises on the Farrar Avenue when the incident occurred.
He said on reaching a spot near the total filling station, the accused persons, now convicts, on an unregistered Kinko motor bike crossed the complainant on the pavement.
He said the first convict, the pillion rider forcibly held the complainant�s hand bag in a quest to snatch it.
�However, the complainant put up a resistance, during which, she was pushed to the ground and the convicts took the possession of the bag containing her books, purse value at GH₵20.00, techno mobile phone value at GH₵ 100.00 and cash sum of GH₵ 50 and sped off,� he added.
The prosecution said luck eluded them when witnesses in the case pursued them, captured them in the process and handed them over to the police.
