The National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) is worried about the increasingly poor performance of secondary school students in the English Language.
The Association is blaming the situation on the use of slangs or unapproved English Language by students.
President of the Association, Christian Addae Poku tells Joy News it is time parents stopped their children from watching movies, and rather encourage them to read.
“If you read students’ scripts, they abbreviate words they are not supposed to abbreviate; they use words the way they have been hearing them instead of reading. It is very, very, worrying.”
Mr. Addae Poku is also asking teachers to improve upon their method of teaching to arrest this “deteriorating” situation.
