Traditional land owners have been advised to seek legal documentation of their properties according to the Land Title Registration Act, or risk losing them.
Speaking on the theme: 'Advocacy Action on Agricultural Land Rights for Coastal Farmers' at Yabiw in the Shama District of the Western Region, the Project Co-ordinator of agricultural empowerment NGO, TRACTOR, Francis Adarkwah, called on stakeholders in agriculture to familiarize themselves with land use maps of communities they operate in in accordance with the spatial development framework designed for districts.
He said TRACTOR has trained personnel from the community to offer GPS technology services for accurate calculation of area of irregular parcels of land.
The District Development Planning Officer, Habib Mohammed, urged potential commercial farmers to acquire permit from district assemblies before they start investing, since land claimants without legal documents will not be compensated when their land is affected by government projects.
