Hundreds of young ladies working at the Tema Industrial area are being severely exploited and sexually abused in 'utterly miserable conditions', investigations by The National Tribute have revealed.
The paper's investigations in the area revealed that young ladies employed at various companies owned by foreigners at the Tema industrial area and its surroundings are constantly subjected to sexual harassment by top officers of those companies.
The victims include married women dare refuse to their sexual advances because they are either made to lose their jobs without explanation or are accused of stealing things belonging to the companies and, thereby, arrested and bullied by police who are allegedly bribed by those officers.
Many of these young ladies who spoke to this paper said they were being terribly abused and exploited sexually by their rude employers.
Speaking exclusively to the paper during its investigations, a lady who only mentioned her name as Abena said "we are constantly being harassed by the top officials, who are all foreigners, for sex. If you refuse to succumb to the pressure, they will simply dismiss you or find problems for you."
The mother of two children further told this paper that many of them, mostly Indians, Lebanese and Koreans, with the intention of depriving their employees of certain benefits such as medical facility, pension scheme, sick-leave, among others, usually hire staff on a temporary basis, especially young ladies and abuse them sexually without fear of being arrested.
Another former employee who lost her job because she refused to sleep with the manager, an Indian of renowned manufacturing company situated within the free zone, told this paper that the situation is sad and disheartening for many young ladies who work in these companies.
She said apart from those who are already employed, young women who want to get into these companies are either used and dumped or get the jobs and become sex slaves to their employers.
'We have to start work early and close late. Yet they won't allow us to rest but always chasing and demanding sex from us and if you say no, you will be bullied or sacked," another lady said.
According to the lady, when she complained, the manager [employer] told her "you don't deserve this job".
The paper's investigations uncovered that female workers in the Tema industrial area are at risk of getting diseases due to the constant serious sexual abuse and exploitation. Other complaints the paper uncovered include late or unpaid wages and very poor working and living conditions.

IT DEY BEE KE KE
INVESTIGATIONS SHOULD BE EXTENDED TO ALL OTHER ORGANIZATIONS OWNED BY FOREIGNERS. THERE'S A RESTAURANT KNOWN AS CHIAN TAI AROUND 13TH DANSOMAN THAT I STRONGLY THAT ARE SUBJECTING ITS POOR EMPLOYEES TO SUCH RUTHLESS ACTS. I WITNESSED HOW ONE MALE WORKER WAS PHYSICALLY ASSAULTED BY ONE SHORT KOREAN/LABANIS SUPERIOR. MOST OF THE GIRLS WHO WORK THERE DRESS LIKE CHEAP PROSTITUTES. THIS VERY PLACE MUST BE INVESTIGATED ASAP.
Responsibility is with everybody. What prevents you those who know the names of the said companies from mentioning the names or reporting to the responsible ministries? If you come online and turn everything into politics, you are only wasting your time. Nobody can smell problems within your workplace if you refuse to report or mention it.
Why these filthy as someone said guys Indians Lebanese sleeping with our princesses hmm Ghana is gone.
Its kind of crazy, the way our authorities sell their conscience to these foreigners, who in thier own country are nobody(ies). These harassements are very true. I had a friend who used to work within this enclave, and she confirmed that these foreigners will call them anytime they are in town to meet them, at varoius spots and pubs. if you dare not go or respond, it could cause you your job. Please lets protect our vulnerable young ladies from these predators.
Its high time authorities stood their grounds and fight this ***barred word*** out of the system. Both Ghanaian and foreign bosses are all into this business. If you dare refuse their advances. they fire you talkless of the numerous females they promise works but after having their way with them dumping them
This is the consequence of giving your country full access to foreigners who claim to be investors. Ghana leadership must behave responsibly by ensuring that foreigners are made aware of their limits before they enter the country just like other prominent countries in africa. Labour and immigration officials must investigate and bring the culprits to book.
Why do they fail to put the name of said companies in the article. Mr. editor please do you work well.
ITS PATHETIC AND SAD TO BE ABUSED IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD.OH MY DEAR MOTHERLAND.WHAT HAS HAPPENNED TO THIS LAND OF OPPORTUNITY WHICH ONCE PREVAILED.THE AFRC/PNDC/NDC HAS DEGRADED THIS COUNTRY TO THE LOWEST EBB THAT THESE FILHTY INDIANS HAS THE GUTS TO ABUSE POOR GHANAIANS.GO DO THAT IN INDIA AND YOU WILL BE DEAD.AND THESE AFRICAN WHITE MEN LEBANESS TOO IN AFRICA THEY THINK THEY ARE WHITE.THEY SHOULD COME TO EUROPE AND SEE IF THEY ARE CLASSIFIED IN THE WHITE CATEGORY.WHAT IS MAHAMA DOING ABOUT THIS? ITS SO SAD.TIME WILL TELL.
Very sad indeed but not surprising. the people we have elected and given this job are busy steeling money. Signing petitions to release criminals and on TV stations defending the indefensible. The people have become refugees in their own country. As for the Indians , Chinese and Lebanese they will always take advantage of weak governments like we have at the moment
