The District Chief Executive of Chereponi in the Northern region, Hajia Mary Nakobu has confirmed to Kasapa News a bloody clash between supporters of the NPP and NDC on Monday night.
According to the DCE the clash erupted at the market square when some NPP members who had returned from a final rally started pelting stones at their rival supporters.
She added that some unknown persons opened shots at the fighting crowd and injured 6 people.
Five persons all loyal to the NPP sent to the Chereponi hospital have been reffered to Mungo a community in neighboring Togo for treatment.
One Kwabena a native of Kablani is reported dead, a report yet to be independently verified.
Three wooden pavilions belonging to the NDC and stores for individuals were set ablaze at the market causing massive damage to properties.
The DCE was unable to explain what triggerred the clash, however this is the second time supporters of the two parties have clashed.
Earlier one was in September where three reportedly suffered stone injuries .
Hajia said she had call for a military intervention because the police were unable to headoff the disturbaces.
The police fled the scene after being outnumbered, the DCE claimed.
“The police are there they couldn’t control it so I’m calling on the army; they said they have taken off. Here, the police are not many ,they are even up to 10 and they have to also fight for their lives”
Hajia said random gunshots could still be heard and stores still blazing .
Kasapa News sources have confirmed that armed military personnel have been dispatched from Yendi to quell the escalating violence.

EPHESIANS 6:12 SAYS THAT WE ARE NOT FIGHTING AGAINST ONLY FLESH AND BLOOD BUT WE ARE FIGHTING AGAINST NOCTURNAL DIABOLIC CREATURES. YOU CAN NEVER DETERMINE THEIR NEXT EVIL AGENDA. IT IS ONLY BY THE POWER OF GOD THAT THESE CREATURES CAN BE DEFEATED. SO AS WE WORK HARD TO OVERTURN THEIR EVIL AGENDA WE MUST NEVER CEASE TO PRAY TO GOD WHO ALONE CAN TOTALLY DEFEAT THEM.

Uncharacteristically, i will let the first comment slide because the author is not a northerner. Cheriponi again in the news and for the wrong reason. Why? This is what happens when a very weak and near-absentee DCE manages a historically volatile district like Cheriponi. The DCE is out of touch with happenings on the ground in real time and therefore cannot provide explanations and answers to very valid questions when asked. Politically, the district has been polarized since the days of Kwame Nkrumah and therefore needs very strong, even handed, development oriented leaders to unite and lead the people. Cheriponi got a district status right after independence with the likes of M. B. Tamanjah aka "DC Sofo" and Mr. Ndakaa all of blessed memory, as leaders with Saboba as an area council. Due to the intransigence of Chokosis in particular ( there are settler communities ), Saboba has overtaken and outclassed Cheriponi on all fronts in the human development index and i keep applauding my Konkomba compatriots for their zeal and determination. Chokosis never learn so economic advancement is way beyond their comprehension in today's Ghana. Government must forget about politics and appoint capable individuals irrespective of tribe to manage Cheriponi if we are to see unity, development and progress in that district. As for the current DCE, she is more interested in her businesses than governance, so, just forget her. To security persons resident in Cheriponi or being deployed there, be ruthless in your "response" to real and potential threats because that is the language Chokosis understand. This is unfortunately, the most backward town in Northern region
The millitary should intervene fast before these northners kill themselves. They are joking with politics.
