The alleged payment of monies owed customers of the defunct DKM Diamond microfinance company by the NPP government was not committed in the 2016 manifesto of the ruling party, Finance Minister-designate Ken Ofori-Atta has said.
Even before the government settled in its first week of assuming office, aggrieved customers of DKM Financial Company Ltd, sent messages urging President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to relent on his promise of getting their locked up investment refunded.
Nana Akufo-Addo prior to the December 7 elections assured he’ll investigate the DKM scandal and to ensure that there would be total restoration to all affected in both scandals when he’s voted into power.
But during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of parliament in Accra on January 20, Mr Ofori-Atta mentioned that the NPP did not capture the said payment in its manifesto.
“It’s not in our manifesto to pay God is Love and DKM. I know that there are certain processes going on which I’m privy to…and then I think we are also introducing some protection of deposits which will go structurally to change that problem.
“Ponzi schemes and schemes like that are as a result of when there is lack of legislation and also too [many] licences approved making it impossible for the regulatory authority to monitor and manage.
“The central bank will need to strengthen the supervisory unit but clearly there are too many licences out there.”

This is smart talk and i grieve with all affected people, but Nana Addo said he would ensure their monies are refunded, he did not say he will refund the monies, I am very sure he will try all necessary means to help them. But if indeed Ken did make that statement, then it does not sound good at all. And im also sure peaceffm with their piece-piece news , did not bring out all that Ken said, they have reported half and will report the rest tomorrow, as always. Lets just wait and see the official response to this from the big man Nana Addo himself.
I knew this was going to happen. Some of the promises were too juicy to be true. More yet to come; One district one factory
Hahahahahahahahahah just don't want to say I told you all but here we are, more denials to come
Mr Ken I strongly heard Nana Addo assuring DKM customers of a refund.not all de things said on political platforms ar in manifestos bt ar politically influential. So pls don't throw mud at de heart of de dear.consult Nana first on some political promises b4 u come public.its was a hard won battle u know.don't cause any disaffection.if u can't pay all pay an appreciable percentage thru any proper means.ppl ar watching paaa So ask if u don't know Boss.Nana open ur eyes nd ears nd check on ur appointees.de mess created by de ndc guys shd never be repeated bcos their mibehaviour is still fresh in our minds.Ken becareful
ken failed to give a smart response. what he said is politically incorrect. whether or not it is in npp manefesto is immaterial now - nana addo promised to pay refund the dkm moneys and that is what he should be thinking of.
Cetewaaa no 1 has come, no 2, 3, ---- and the rest are coming. Woa to aba borne
Supervisory powers should be given to another body rather than Central Bank as is done in the UK. Bank of Ghana does so many things less efficiently and it is about time policy makers re-structure the banks functions.
What is Ken Ofori Atta talking about here? he should go and ask President Nana Addo if he did not promise us to refund our lost money back to us. Nana in his campaign time, strongly promise us that, if we vote for him and he wins the election he (Nana Addo) and his governing Npp party would ensure that our monies are refund back to us. We are seriously keeping eye on this promise. whether it was in party manifesto or not that is exactly what Nana Addo promise us. And this is the main reason why we customers of DKM voted for him and the Npp party.
