Ms Agatha Armah, a Senior Staffer, Local Content Unit, Petroleum Commission, has said the country is not reneging on its focus at full local content involvement in the oil and gas industry.
“The local content fostering in the sector is being pushed through the catering service sector, employment of Ghanaians, technology and skills transfer and participation of Ghanaians in equity holdings," Ms Armah noted at a day's Advocacy Programme on Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas Exploration works in the Keta Basin.
It was organised by the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalist (IFEJ) and Evidence and Lessons from Latin America (ELLA) in collaboration with the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC).
Ms Armah allayed the fears of the locals in the exploration yet to start in the area and called for their co-operation.
Two companies, Swiss Africa Oil and GOSCO- a consortium of oil companies, have been licensed to do fresh exploration for oil and gas in the Keta Basin are about to start work.
