The Central Tongu District Assembly has launched investigation to apprehend men, who are responsible for the pregnancies of four 10-year-old primary school girls.
According to the District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr. Moore Zonyra, a task force was searching for the men for their prosecution.
The DCE announced the pregnancy of the children at a durbar at Mafi-Dove in the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region, to mark National Children Day last Saturday, which was organized on theme: “Education, Aright for all children.”
He said the assembly was taking stringent measures against such “irresponsible actions” by adults.
Teenager’s constitute 21 per cent of all pregnant women in the district, and Mr. Zonyra said that the trend had to change.
He said that the assembly would deal swiftly and ruthlessly with the men under the law, adding “we cannot forgive these irresponsible men.”
